This artist is quickly becoming a star in the making!
With well over 1 Million streams on just Spotify alone, Hayes Warner is taking the lead in pop music. If you didn’t love her yet, you do now after she’s released her new single ‘Breadcrumbs’ featuring Loren Gray. Spoiler alert: it’s a total bop!
We had the amazing honor of speaking with Hayes about her rising fame, her dream music collab, and more!
Based on your vocals we could’ve sworn you were born to sing. When did you first realize that you wanted to pursue a music career?
H: “I’ve always known since I was little that I wanted to sing and write songs. I have videos of me forcing my family to sit down and watch me tap dance and sing around the living room when I was like 3 years old. I was really lucky to grow up in New York City, and was obsessed with going to concerts. I even got to see a bunch of artists before they blew up playing at smaller venues on the Lower East Side. I knew that was the path I wanted to take.”
We have to say, we are obsessed with your new single ‘Breadcrumbs’. Can you tell us more about how it came to be?
H: “Thank you! I’m so glad you love it – I’m really proud of how it turned out. Breadcrumbs came to life when I started piecing together signs of my partner’s unfaithfulness. It was like being a detective, stumbling upon a hair ribbon and an earring in his car that definitely weren’t mine. I dubbed these unintentional clues “breadcrumbs” leading me to the truth. Turning this discovery process into a sort of playful game, I infused that vibe into the song.
One of the coolest things about Breadcrumbs is that the other girl, who my ex was cheating with, had no clue about me either. She was on her own breadcrumb trail that eventually led her to me. When I found out it was Loren Gray, I was blown away. She’s this amazing businesswoman and a super talented singer-songwriter. We’ve actually become really good friends, and decided to release a version of “Breadcrumbs” together. The song and video are dropping on November 17, and I think both really capture the essence of the situation. Can’t wait for you to see it!”
As someone who was born and raised in the Big Apple, how would you personally describe the music scene in NYC?
H: “I think New York has really instilled a go-getter energy in me, and a fast-paced no-bullshit mentality. Growing up, I was always surrounded by people who were working really hard in such a wide variety of industries. The high-speed energy of the city definitely has helped me when it comes to my music career. I’m super passionate about music and writing, but it’s that hustle and hardworking grind that has helped me meet people who have helped me get my music to people’s ears, so I’m incredibly grateful for my NYC roots!
Growing up, I honestly used to strut around the city aimlessly with my headphones in and write lyrics to my next song or even pretend I was in a music video. In this way New York is really ingrained in my music, and I think the rapid energy of the city translates into my songs.”
You have over 2 Million streams on just Spotify alone! What has been your reaction to your success?
H: “Honestly, it’s surreal. Being able to put my personal experiences into music and having it resonate emotionally with people I’ve never even met—it’s the best part. Being able to put my personal experiences into music and having it resonate emotionally with people I’ve never even met—it’s the best part. The most exciting thing about dropping music is performing live and meeting people who connect to my music. I’ve made some genuine friends from people who’ve reached out saying they relate to my songs.”
If you had to choose, which music artist would you love to collab with next?
H: “I would die to collaborate with Hayley Williams and Paramore. Of course I am such a huge Paramore fan, but overall I’m absolutely obsessed with her energy on stage. She has such a powerful voice, and is able to belt out crazy notes while electrifying the stage with so much energy.”
You are no stranger to being on stage. What do you love the most when it comes to performing live?
H: “When I step on stage and see the audience, I feel a connection that you can only get from performing live. I love connecting with people who relate to my music online, but it’s such a different experience to have face-to-face interactions with people who like my music. Live performances, to me, add this whole other layer to the music I’m writing, and give the songs more context and full life. Live performances, to me, add this whole other layer to the music I’m writing—it’s like giving it a full, vibrant life. Pouring all my energy into the performance is awesome, but connecting with the crowd on a day-to-day basis, making those real-life connections is hands down my favorite part.”
We hear that you are planning to release your debut EP! Can you tease what your fans can expect from the project?
H: “I love energetic music and the EP is definitely going to be filled with high-octane songs that are . I wanted to write songs that capture my sarcastic humor, sprinkled in with some light-hearted sassiness and fun. But overall, there’s a balance of sassy uptempo songs and vulnerability that I’m really proud of with this next EP.”
Where can we follow your amazing journey?
H: “Thank you!! I’m @hayeswarner on all social media platforms – Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Youtube, etc!”
