This Canadian artist is incredible!
Chayce Kennedy is quickly becoming one of the biggest names in pop music. She recently released a new single titled ‘Mr. Super Fine’, and it just might be our favorite single from her yet!
We had the amazing honor of talking with Chayce about the new single, her songwriting process, and more!
When did you first realize that you wanted to pursue a career in music?
C: “I first realized I wanted to pursue a career in music when I went to Taylor Swift’s 1989 concert with my mom. I saw the way she interacted with the audience, her incredible stage presence, and her energy how she could influence people so positively. The way the crowd went wild when she came out on stage was nothing I had ever seen before. I knew from that moment on that music was something I wanted to pursue a career in.”
Tell us more about your amazing new single ‘Mr. Super Fine’.
C: “The inspiration for “Mr. Super Fine” was based on my experiences so far with love. I’m still only 19, so I haven’t had tons of experience, but I’ve had some. I wrote “Mr. Super Fine” based on how I’ve felt when I have met someone new, and the whole situation just feels magical. The excitement and curiosity of a brand new possibility when you think you have found someone you really click with and you’re hopeful that it will lead somewhere good.”
What is your songwriting process usually like?
C: “Usually, the songwriting process consists of me getting an idea and story concept while doing something, and heading to my piano fiddling with chords and melodies, and writing the story based on that idea. It also happens super spontaneously with me just practicing, fiddling around with cool melodies and riffs, jamming out and then getting an idea – like a song hook or title – and rolling with it until I get into writing a song.”
If you had to choose, what has been your favorite song you have released so far?
C: “My favorite song I have released so far would be “Mr. Super Fine. It was such a fun, giddy song to write and it was such a quick process – I wrote this one in about an hour! Then we just did some tweaking and added the bridge. The studio process was very exciting, too. We added lots of cool sounds to the production and watching the song come alive was AWESOME!”
What do you love the most about performing live?
C: “I love being able to connect with the audience in a live setting and engage with the crowd.”
If you could collab with any music artist, who would it be and why?
C: “Taylor Swift – she’s an absolutely incredible writer as we all know and she really has mastered the music industry.”
We hear you have an EP coming up! Can you tease what fans can expect from it?
C: “YES!! I am very stoked to be releasing new music over the next 7 months. I worked on my EP “Yours Truly” with Grammy-Nominated producer Brian West as well as Juno Award-Winning producer Ryan Stewart. I have worked with them both before, and they are so talented and the work/studio environment is always comfortable and inspiring. The songs on the EP are about body image, mental health, love, and the struggles and drama that come along with love.”
Where can we follow your amazing journey?
C: “I am most active on my Instagram which is @chaycekennedymusic. You can follow all my music journey stuff there!”
