May we present: An artist you need to have on your favorite playlist!
Bailey Hyneman is truly a hidden gem in the music industry. With a vocal tone that will make you stop in your tracks, and songs that are more relatable that words can say, she’s an artist that just gets it.
With her newest release “Better Day”, her vulnerability takes to a new level. It’s a power single that encompasses the process of navigating grief and the quest of moving forward, one day at a time.
The music video for the song feels nostalgic, with the old-school editing style that makes it seem like it was filmed on a classic camera. The video follows Bailey walking around town with her headphones, drowning out the world behind her. Her soulful voice combined with the song’s jazz feel will transport straight to a jazz club with a cocktail in hand.
New Scene Review: 5/5 Stars
In celebration of her new hit, we spoke with Bailey about her music journey, her growing acting career, and more!
NS: Your vocal tone is truly incredible. If you could credit one of your music inspirations to your soulful sound, who would it be?
B: “Thank you so much! Wow – to be honest I don’t know that it is possible to pick one, but I grew up on Barry White, The Manhattans, and Al Green!”
NS: Congratulations on your new single “Better Days”! How did this song come to be?
B: “I was singing to myself in my kitchen one day, and the lyric “not all bad days have silver linings” just got stuck in my head, and from there I knew I had something that meant a lot, to me anyways.”
NS: What is your best advice to listeners of the song who might be currently experiencing a stage of grief?
B: “Just one foot in front of the next. Someone once told me, that it never really gets better, but with time, it gets easier. And to know that grief is nothing like what you think it is.”
NS: Is there a song from your discography thus far that best represents who you are as a music artist?
B: “I think between “Again” and “Better Days,” there is Bailey Hyneman. I am excited to put out more music with more organic instrumentation. I’ve been on a long Sade and Cleo Sol kick, and am so inspired by them.”
NS: You recently wrapped filming on ‘Molting’! Can you tease what that project is about?
B: “This movie! It was such a special experience. Ironically enough, it is centered around three sisters navigating the loss of their mother, and sort of re-establishing who they are and who they are to each other. It was really lovely and the writer/director Kendra Baude and producers are just amazing women. I feel truly so lucky to have been a part of that story and project and can’t wait to see what they do next.”
NS: With this project and ‘Now Then Forward’ coming soon, what are the goals that you have for your acting career?
B: “I just want to make really good art that moves people, or makes people feel seen, feel happy, feel inspired, feel moved. I love music and acting both equally, just in different ways and for different reasons. I feel very blessed to have had a year full of both. I am manifesting that by the end of this year I will have booked the lead role of a popular new series!”
