Artist Edward Anthony Opens Up About His Songwriting Process And Upcoming Album ‘Them’

We are Edward Anthony stans!

You might remember singer-songwriter Josephine Relli. Now, he has transformed into Edward Anthony and we couldn’t be more excited to hear his upcoming music.

We had the amazing honor of speaking with Edward about his favorite song he’s released thus far, advice for people considering transitioning, and more!

We hear that you are releasing a new album soon! Can you tease ‘Them’?

E: “Them” is a collaboration project with myself where I blended past archived songs with my present addition/twist to them. It is like a bridge between what I’ve done in the past and where I plan to go next.”

Do you have a personal favorite song that you have released so far?

E: “That’s hard for me to say as all of them have held a place in their own way, but if I had to highlight one, I think it would be “Slow Down.” It’s one that, even now when I think about it, I feel pretty proud of it. Sometimes songs can feel resented with time, but this one has held strong.”

What is your songwriting process usually like?

E: “It kind of varies depending on the song and where I’m at in life when it’s happening. Usually, I let the song guide itself, so each process looks a little different. I often start with a story of some kind and put everything else in place around that.”

This might be hard, but what is one of your all-time favorite moments from your career so far?

E: “This is less of a career-defining moment, but I always think back to when I first went into a recording studio and how much fun I had creating without worrying too much about the outcome. I’ve been striving to recreate that feeling ever since.”

How do you think you’ve grown music-wise since your debut to now?

E: “I’ve definitely learned a lot more and discovered a lot about who I am as a person. The music I create and want to create now holds a lot more meaning and depth to it that I couldn’t quite make when I first started.”

What is your best piece of advice to our fans who are considering transitioning?

E: “To trust yourself. It becomes really easy to second guess yourself, especially when other people’s opinions get involved. But at the end of the day, you know yourself best. Sometimes it takes turning down the background noise to hear it clearly, but trust your gut. It’s your life and you should live it however makes you happiest.”

Where can we follow your amazing journey?

E: “I’m on Instagram mainly @edwardanthonyofficial and my website is www.edwardanthonyofficial.com.”
