Shane Garcia On Advice Towards Mental Health, Kehlani, And New Single ‘Evil Twin’

This NY artist is taking over the charts!

Shane Garcia’s music is getting more recognition each and every day. On Spotify alone, they have received over 1 Million streams. Now, the artist is back with a new single entitled ‘Evil Twin’.

We had the amazing honor of talking with Shane about a piece of advice they would give to their younger self, their Soundcloud debut, and more!

Warning: Strong language is used and select words will be blurred out.

What do you think has been the most important part of your writing process?

S: “Not judging, just writing down any idea no matter how silly or stupid etc.”

What inspired you to write your new single “Evil Twin”?

S: “Being somewhat bats*** crazy at times and analyzing it as the observer.”

If you could give your younger self any piece of advice, what would it be?

S: “No one else knows what the f*** they are doing, fail as much as possible, that is how you learn!”

How did you get your start in the music industry?

S: “One of my best friends, Mike Snell has been doing music for a while, he mixed and mastered my first breakup song and encouraged me to drop it on SoundCloud. Once I did, about a month or two in, I had a lot of emails from A&Rs and that’s when I started to take things seriously.”

Do you have a favorite lyric you’ve written? If so, what is it and why?

S: “There must be a d*** on my forehead, but do I really think I’m that important?” It’s from my song “Corner Store Runs,” I love it cause it was a song about my social anxiety doing mundane things and feeling like everyone was watching and judging me. I felt like people were looking at me like I had a dick drawn on my forehead. Best way I could explain how I felt!”

If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be?

S: “I have said this 100 times, but Kehlani, she is my dream collab!”

If you could tell someone who’s struggling with similar mental health issues as you anything, what would you say to them?

S: “Radical self-acceptance & community is the way out of the darkness.”

Where can we follow your amazing journey?
