Talented Artist ‘Nobody Likes You Pat’ Talks About His Upcoming Debut Album ‘imago’

An exceptional artist!

With well over 5 Million streams on his music, and a growing fanbase, Pat Kiloran, also known as ‘Nobody Likes You Pat’, is clearly a dynamic talent. And now, he’s gearing up to release his debut album ‘imago’.

We had the amazing honor of talking with Pat about his favorite song off of the album, being supported by Spotify, and more!

On November 11th, you will be releasing your debut album called “imago”! What is the meaning behind the album?

P: “imago” is a short-form phrase snipped from the old Latin phrase, “imago dei” which means “image of God.” It’s used frequently throughout biblical history to refer to mankind, as a creature made in God’s likeness. The way I approach music and art is like a journal or a microscope into the elements of my life that are uncurated and unedited – my humanity. So, I was determined to make a project that felt like a nuanced reflection on what that human-ness looks like.

Do you have a favorite song on the album?

P: It varies. I just recently re-listened to the album. When you sit on songs for so long, waiting for them to come out, they can feel stale in your own mind. Revisiting the whole piece helped remind me that I did indeed accomplish what I set out to. So, it’s hard to pick a favorite. But I will say that the song I had the most intense emotions while writing was the acoustic ballad about my wife called “shawna.”

What was the process like writing the album?

P: “Some people like to write 200 songs, pick their top 12, and then call it an album. That’s just not my style. An album, to me, is a snapshot into a season of life or artistry. So, for me, usually writing an album is pretty quick. It’s usually completed, start to finish, in a few months time, because I want it to feel like it actually reflects the thoughts, feelings, hardships, and lessons learned during a specific season of life.”

On November 18, you will be celebrating the album’s release by performing at the Trinity City Church! How are you feeling about getting to perform there?

P: “I chose to perform at my church building for a couple reasons. 1). It’s an old 1800’s Methodist building, so the architecture is grand, beautiful, and sacred-feeling. It felt like it reflected the emotions I want people to gain from listening to the album. And 2). Traditional venues can be great, but I just wanted to play these songs in a space that took people into a new frame of mind. I want it to be a space where they can perhaps think deeper and wonder about things they haven’t before.”

You were Featured on Spotify’s Next Gen Singer-Songwriters, Warm Fuzzy Feeling, and Sommer Chillout playlists. Did you ever think your music will ever be featured in these playlists?

P: “Since the beginning of “nobody likes you pat,” Spotify has really supported me and helped me to get where I am now. Their editors have given playlist attention to the majority of my songs over the last two years, and I’m very grateful for that support.”

What do you hope people take away from the album?

P: “You’re not out of place in your awkward, painful humanity. We might have different flavors of experience or hurt, but most people have all felt the highs and lows of what it means to be a person. And I hope that looking into the crevices of my life gives other people some solace during their own discomfort or challenges their sense of complacency.”

You just released “babylon” which is from your debut album! What made you decide to release this song before the album?

P: babylon” gives some additional context to the sound of the album as a whole. It stands out from some of the other songs sonically and helps paint the full picture.”
