Influencer Gia Skova On Favorite Magazine Covers, Chanel, And “The Serpent”

Is there anything this influencer can’t do?

From acting in our favorite movie, to modeling with some of the largest fashion companies in the world, Gia has definitely earned her spot in the industry.

We had the amazing honor to talk with Gia on working with Glamour, next goal, and more!

Hi Gia, thanks for taking the time to speak with us!

First of all, congratulations on your cover for Glamour Magazine’s winter 2022 issue! What was your time on set with Glamour like? Are sets returning to normal despite the pandemic?

G: “It was extraordinary, like any cover, as expected it’s always an incredible new team and a new photographer. Honestly, I’m always a little nervous. This time my photographer was very young but very professional. Every time I meet me in a different way. It’s not as easy of a task as I think, because this cover should not only be beautiful, but there should also be an idea, a form of color and a final mood. This time was Winter, for example.”

Glamour is, of course, just one of the many magazines you have graced the cover. If you had to pick, what would be your favorite cover you have done and why?

G: “It’s hard to choose. Any cover is memorable and favorite at that moment. I had two covers in the United Kingdom, and I was very proud of it.”

You’ve worked with some of the world’s biggest brands in fashion, including Stella McCartney and Marc Jacobs. Is there a brand you haven’t worked for yet but would like to?

G: “Yes, this is Chanel, I really like it. It’s such a classic, I like this brand. I would like to appear in their commercials, and it would be great to be the face of such a company.”

Not only are you incredibly successful in the fashion industry, but you have also made waves as an actress. You wrote and directed your most recent film, “The Serpent,” while also playing the lead. What was it like making your directorial debut?

G:It was an adventure, and at the same time, I learned a lot of experience as a director, as a producer, how to work with a team of actors, and when you bring that part of the creation into the actors, as a director. It has been an undeniably positive adventure, and I am looking forward to my next film with Paulie, as a director and actress at the same time. I have three projects that I am currently working on.

What was the biggest challenge you faced trying to balance directing and playing the starring role?

G: “Every day, of course, something new came up with which I had to deal with. Perhaps, I remember most of all, when someone from the team spoke to me, it was his first day and he didn’t recognize me. In general, he said something about the director and then only realized that I am the director. It was a very funny scene like in a comedy movie.”

In “The Serpent,” you play Special Agent Lucinda Kavsky. How did you prepare for such an intense and combat-heavy role?

G: “I had to split and prepare, which took three months just for the fight scenes. It was a block of classes every day and intense training. I like martial arts in general and have done a little bit of everything from ballet to boxing. Therefore, it was easy for my stunt coordinator to work with me.”

What do you hope viewers will take away from this film? Do you think it will have an impact as a female-led action movie?

G: “Undoubtedly, this woman is a hero and this is obvious. I believe that there are heroes in both male and female.”

You’ve worked with so many legendary people in the fashion and film industry, becoming a major star in your own right; have you ever been starstruck by someone you’ve met or worked with?

G: “When I was little, I really liked Leonardo Di Caprio in the movie “Titanic.” As an actor, he is wonderful and talented, but when I saw him in life, my childhood dream melted away.”

With the success of your recent projects piling up, you don’t seem to be slowing down any time soon. What’s next for you? Can you tell us anything about your upcoming projects?

G: “Yes, I would like to tell you a lot, but as long as my team keeps the information, the only thing I can say is that the films I’m working on are crazy interesting and you’ll love them—I promise!!

Q: To finish off our interview, what are your goals for 2022?

G: “Plan and visit grandma! Make all three projects, step to preproduction, and then production.”
