SPOTLIGHT: Singer Leith On Songwriting, Carole King, And New Single” Big Trees”

This inspirational artist is going back to her roots!

With thousands of streams and hits entering the hottest Spotify playlists, Leith is definitely a new artist to become obsessed with. Her brand-new single “Big Trees” is a beautiful nod to her hometown of Toronto.

We had the honor of talking with Leith on her love of music, her biggest music inspirations, and her future as an aritst.

Q: When did you first realize that you wanted to pursue a career in music?

L: “It’s kind of always been what I wanted to do. I loved music as a kid and did as much of it as I could and I guess it never really stopped.”

Q: Tell us about your brand new single “Big Trees”.

L: “Big Trees is about my home in Canada and my family. We have a family house by a lake that we all go to at the end of every summer, my cousins, aunts, uncle, grandparents, everyone. We used to spend the whole summer there as kids. So many of my childhood memories are centred around this house, and feeling so safe in it. Big Trees is about growing up in a big tree house and being protected by it.”

Q: How would you describe your songwriting process?

L: “My songwriting process varies from song to song. I think it depends on the story. I usually start with a story or concept and try to figure out what I’m trying to say, then go from there.”

Q: What has been your favorite song you’ve released so far, and why?

L: “Big Trees is definitely my favorite song to come out so far. It’s the most personal to me and means the most. Definitely, the scariest to put out there. That song has details about my life that only my family knows so it’s a bit weird they now live on the internet.”

Q: Who are your biggest music inspirations?

L: “I love Carole King, I grew up listening to her. She’s an amazing story teller and every time I listen to her music it gives me the same feeling as the first time I heard it. That’s basically a superpower lol.”

Q: What are your biggest goals for your music career?

L: “I guess I just want people to relate to the stories. My favorite thing about any of the musicians I love is there stories and how they make me feel and if I can do that for anyone that would be really really cool.”

Q: Can we expect more amazing music from you in 2022?

L: “Definitely. Lot’s more music in 2022. And then forever lol.”

Q: Where can we follow your amazing journey?

L: “Instagram haha, social media! Leith @jessieleithmunro.”
