Kyle Waves On Embracing Dancing Within His Music Career And Exploring For EP ‘Signals’

A vocal visionary and a talented performer, Kyle Waves is a music artist that you need to know about. He’s been releasing works of art for years, and his newest EP ‘Signals’ is no exception.

We had the absolute pleasure of speaking with Kyle about his favorite track from the new EP, finding his self-confidence as an artist, and more!

Congratulations on your EP “Signals”! Can you walk us through its meaning and how it came to be?

K: “Thank you so much! I’ve been thinking a lot over the last year of how to continue the narrative I started during my previous EP and in that time, I started exploring the theme of connection and searching for different connections. Signals is the result of that exploration. It’s about how in romantic situations we’re constantly sending and receiving information, trying to navigate with one another, sometimes those signals are reciprocated, sometimes they’re not, and sometimes they cause problems.”

Has songwriting always come naturally to you or has it been a learned skill?

K: “I remember being really young and coming up with my own songs all the time, so I think it’s something I’ve always had come naturally. As I’ve grown and pursued it as a career, I think I’ve really tried to work on it further though and expand that skillset so I can get even better.”

This may be hard but if you had to choose, what is your favorite track from the EP and why?

K: “If I really had to pick one it would be track number 5, “Broken Soul.” It was actually the last song written for the EP and came out of a very raw emotional moment, but I think despite it being about navigating heartbreak, there’s something very beautiful and calming about it. It’s also one of the songs I produced entirely on my own and I think is vocally one of the more challenging songs I’ve released.”

Since this EP revolves around different phases of a relationships, what is the best relationship advice you can give?

K: “I think that if you’re in a relationship, love should be easy. I hear too often that love is difficult,
and it takes a lot of work but my experience with love has never been that. Yes, love can have
difficult moments and tough conversations, but you should never find it difficult to love in your
relationship, and if you do, and do so often, then you should really consider if that’s where you
want to be.”

How would you say you’ve grown, not just as a music artist but as a person, from your 2023 EP “Fragments” to now with “Signals”?

K: “I feel like I have a much clearer vision of the type of artist I am and want to keep growing into,
and what my sound and image is. I also think in life I’ve become much more confident in myself and have a much stronger network of support. I know what I’m capable of now and it’s actually taken some pressure off because I’m not always worrying about whether I will be proud of what I’m putting into the world, so I just do it without giving it too much unnecessary thought.”

We have to talk about your dancing skills; you are incredible! What passion came first for you, singing or dancing?

K: “Thank you very much, dancing is an area that I’ve really been trying to embrace more in my music and videos. I think they really came at the same time. When I was a kid, I started performing in music theatre so they were always kind of connected. I would say singing has taken the top spot for me passion wise over the years but my love and history with K-Pop has meant that dancing was never going to go anywhere, and being able to bring the two artforms back together now has been such a joy.”
