This pop artist is incredible!
An artist we can’t get out of our heads is Isabella Storm, and her last name is valid, because she’s been taking the entire music industry by storm.
We had the absolute pleasure of speaking with Isabella about ‘Midnight Taxi’, living in London, and more!
When did you first realize that you wanted to pursue a career in music?
I: “I was a performing kid from the age of three – starting with ballet. There was no time between 3 and 16 that I wasn’t preparing for an exam, an audition, a school play, a music festival or talent show. I always knew I wanted to be and was going to be a singer … I just didn’t know HOW I was going to do it.”
Can you tell us more about your amazing single ‘CryBaby’ and how it came to be?
I: “The original thought came to me in the car as I was heading to the studio to finish another song from the EP. I roughly recorded it as I do any melody I come up with (so I don’t forget) and showed it to Andy one day and we built it out from there. I knew the two phrases that HAD to be in it were ‘mummy didn’t raise no quitter’ and ‘you can’t tame me, I’m no CryBaby’ the rest we reworked. With Andy and I – there’s no one way we make a song, sometimes the music comes first and we build a track out and other times the lyrics come first and we take it from there, like they did in this instance.”
How would you personally describe the music scene in Yorkshire?
I: “Does it exist in the countryside? Haha. To be honest, I haven’t been in the music scene in Yorkshire much at all – I lived in London for a chunk of my late twenties and before that I was travelling up and down for music opportunities, meetings, vocal coaching etc. I now I spend most of my time in Manchester, which is where Andy has his studio, so I know those places a lot better industry wise. I believe Yorkshire does have a music scene but I believe it’s more Indie?”
We hear that you are gearing up to release your debut EP! Can you tease what fans can expect from the project?
I: “Oh yes I am and DAMN it’s fire … if I do say so myself. Think badass energy, unapologetic lyrically, an ungodly amount of confidence with a hint of divine feminine rage. I just have 3 words for it …. It’s a vibe! There’s 2 songs in particular that will have you screaming from your lungs, loving yourself first, all while losing your mind and throwing your body around. I’ll tease a little … one of them is releasing Valentines Day.”
You were in the movie ‘Midnight Taxi’, which premiered earlier this year. Do you intend to continue to pursue your acting career alongside your music journey?
I: “What fun it was, when I was younger I actually wanted to be an actress before I wanted to be a singer but now it’s singing only! I loved doing the film and the crew were amazing to work with, there’s nothing to say I wouldn’t do more acting in the future but right now my music is my focus, my passion and my purpose.”
Where can we follow your amazing journey?
I: “I’m mostly active on Instagram and TikTok. Social media and I have a love hate relationship but I’m trying to be better – follow me, I’d love to see you there @iamisabellastorm.”
