Laura Pieri Talks Cher, Her Favorite Song She’s Released (So Far), And Her Debut EP ‘Frankie’

This music artist needs to be added to your fave playlist!

Laura Pieri is already showing up for the pop world, and we love to see it. She recently released her debut EP ‘Frankie’ and it would be impossible to choose our favorite hit from it.

We had the amazing honor of speaking with Laura about her rising fame, short film, and more!

When did you first realize that you wanted to pursue a career in music?

L: “There was never a moment that I realized I wanted to pursue a career in music. It was more a bunch of tiny confirmations throughout my life. Like, I remember seeing Cher perform when I was a very very young girl and looking at that and being like…that… that is what I wanna be. But I also remember my first high school play, and the feeling I got when being on stage. At this point I think even if I were to do anything else with my life, I’d still be singing.”

Tell us more about your amazing debut EP, ‘Frankie’.

L: “I am very very excited about this! It’s my first EP, and for a first EP it’s a little different of an introduction. It’s four tracks that together weave the story of a single character. The four songs detail her journey from where she feels trapped and drowning in her own situation, to where she learns to fight for and accept herself. The EP sonically follows the stories and the themes of the songs, even though it is very pop.”

If you had to choose, what is your favorite song off of the project and why?

L: “Oh my, don’t do this to me! It’s hard to pick favorites, but if I had to, I would say Sea of Tragedy has to be my favorite. Firstly because it was the first song that made it on the project, and secondly because it represents so much of how I used to feel in my life both personally and professionally. Plus it’s a lot of fun to sing!”

Having a short film come right after your EP is so clever! Can you tell us more about the story behind the short film?

L: “It’s the EP’s story. When you listen to it you’ll hear Frankie’s journey but when you watch it you’ll meet her, and get to really see and experience Frankie’s journey. I think they’re both stand alone pieces, but together really serve to inform each other.”

You have over 500,000 streams on Spotify and counting! What has been your reaction to your rising fame?

L: “I mean the whole thing is insane. I celebrated the first 100,000 and could barely believe that had happened. I’m immensely proud of the work that’s on there, and how this represents that people are connecting with it more and more. I’m eternally grateful for the response. It’s insane to me that that’s even a reality!”

What is your best piece of advice to young girls who are aspiring singers/artists?

L: “Stay true to yourself and don’t let anyone tell you the kind of art you should make. At the end of the day it’s your voice, it’s your words. Do it how you would like for it to be done.”

We’re just saying that we would love to see you on tour one day! Would you consider taking your incredible music on the road?

L: “Oh I would love to! Definitely hope to do so soon! There’s some things down the pipeline that could transition into a tour later on but I can’t speak much on it just yet.”

Where can we follow your amazing journey?

L: “I am on everywhere you listen to music as Laura Pieri and across all socials as @thelaurapieri!
