Bella Rabbit Reveals Her Dream Artist To Collab With And Talks About Her New EP ‘Dinero’

Music artist Bella Rabbit deserves to be on your playlist. She recently released an EP titled ‘Dinero’. And we honestly can’t choose our favorite song from it!

We had the amazing honor of talking with Bella about her songwriting process, changing the latin narrative, and more!

When did you first realize that you wanted to pursue a career in music? 

B: “I was 6 years old when I found my purpose, since then that was really the only thing that made sense to me. Profoundly enough, I would envision myself living in Los Angeles without ever visiting it. It was a deep knowing. But my journey took me to fashion first and then transitioned fully into Music when I moved to LA, I guess that’s why visuals play a big role in my project.“

Tell us more about your amazing new EP ‘Dinero’. 

B: “I’m so excited that the EP is finally out in the world! This is a project that was made very intentionally. From the sounds to the lyrics and aesthetics. The energy behind it is inspired by divine femininity and explores the themes of self-empowerment, self-love, sensuality, and abundance. I like to take the listener on a ride for every song, so storytelling is very intentional, from concept to the development of the narrative. I’m very fortunate that I was able to craft it with a team of super talented people that trusted the vision and helped me uncover each story. I co-wrote this EP with Koko (who’s also the producer) and Shayna Zaid. There’s a blend/fusion of genres and I like to use languages as textures so you’ll notice seamless transitions between English and Spanish. The title track “Dinero” is about recognizing our innate ability to create our own reality by remembering that abundance comes from within, it’s a mindset.” 

If you had to choose, what is your favorite song on the EP and why? 

B: “Oof, it’s like asking a parent who’s your favorite kid. I think each song has a unique perspective, energy and message. But “Bonita” would be one that I feel very proud of, that song is made for all of my beautiful women out there, the sentiment is to remind the world/ourselves of the importance of respecting and valuing women. Being a woman goes beyond wearing make-up and wearing a dress. I’d like for others to sit with that and think about it, cause sometimes I worry our current society thinks differently.“

What is your songwriting process like? 

B: “It really depends on the energy, sometimes it comes from a melody that I dream or get in my head during the day. Other times from a concept, or a track. From that it develops into something that I never know how it’s gonna turn out until it’s finished, that’s why I say “uncover” like Leonardo Da Vinci used to say he would carve out the marble to let the statue come out, not the other way around. Same for me. I’m just a vessel for a message that wants to come to life.“

How would you personally describe the music scene in Los Angeles? 

B: “I think there’s so much diversity and very talented people here in LA. Sometimes to a fault because we tend to be so passionate about the craft that it’s hard to let loose in a show and just enjoy the moment without analyzing it. But there’s a lot of people who support us too, I love getting inspired from all the different perspectives and ways of creating that the city provides.“

How important do you think Latin representation is in the music industry? 

B: “For me, I always say that it’s my mission to break away from stereotypes of what being “Latin” means. Our Latin heritage is so rich in terms of culture and music, it goes beyond what’s currently mainstream, so it’s important to be able to provide different perspectives when representing our culture and also, have the freedom to express it with our own unique lens. For me personally, I always say that being latin is something I don’t need to talk about, I just take action and then it speaks for itself.“

If you could collab with any music artist who would it be and why?

B: “There’s a wide range of artists that I would be honored to collaborate with but one of my top ones would be Lady Gaga. I have admired her artistic versatility since her first album, I was still in Mexico when I heard it so to me it’d be a dream to collaborate with Queen Gaga. I would love to be able to create a song where she either enters into my world or they merge. And lately I’ve been enjoying the work and amazing voice of Carin Leon, a Mexican singer, I think a collab with him would be very fun and interesting sonically.”
