She’s a pop star!
Music artist Sarah Reeves is quickly making a name for herself. She recently released a new single ‘Billboards On Sunset’. And spoiler alert: It’s a bop!
We had the amazing honor of talking with Sarah about her rising fame, advice for aspiring artists, and more!
When did you first realize that you wanted to pursue a music career?
S: “I grew up in a musical family. My dad built me and my siblings a recording studio by our house, and we played a lot of music in the church. From there, I started singing in bands and writing songs. It has been a passion ever since.”
Tell us more about your single ‘Get Back Your Fight’.
S: “I wrote it coming out of one of the hardest seasons of my life, where I was battling a lot of fear and anxiety. I felt like I needed to shut out all the voices and go back to my roots of writing by myself. I slowly started finding my strength and the fight that I had personally lost. In the meantime, I started teaching myself production and this song came out one day. I posted it on Instagram and the numbers quickly started growing. It’s been amazing to see so many people relate to the song.”
Walk us through your experience filming the incredible music video for the single.
S: “I usually see art and visuals when I write each song. I wanted to use “war paint” on my face for the cover but more in a fashionable way. This cover and music video resembles the “future me” talking to the “past me”. She is a fighter and embodies strength and wisdom.”
If you had to choose, what has been your favorite song you have released so far?
S: “My favorite release has been “Get Back Your Fight” mainly because I love the story of how that one came about and it feels like a big accomplishment to have written and produced it 100% on my own.”
You have over 10 Million streams on Spotify! What has been your reaction to your success?
S: “I am very grateful to have so many people listening to the music. I couldn’t do this without the fans and people supporting me!”
If you could collaborate with any music artist, who would it be and why?
S: “I’d love to collaborate with Coldplay because they are a classic and have so much influence all over the world and in music. They have been a constant on my playlists throughout the years.”
What is your best piece of advice for young girls who are aspiring to be music artists?
S: “I would say be consistent and use the resources in front of you. Don’t compare yourself to other people and get discouraged because that will kill your creativity. Focus on your experiences and pull from that authentic place to create. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes because your music will constantly evolve with you as you grow. Give yourself grace and don’t take it too seriously. Have fun!”
