A rising artist you need to know!
California’s Jettee is quickly becoming an artist you need to have on your playlist. He recently released a new single titled ‘Dancing Alone’.
We had the amazing honor of talking with Jette about his favorite music release so far, Phoebe Bridges, and more!
When did you first realize that you wanted to pursue music?
J: “I grew up pretty much on a tour bus because my dad is in a band. From a very young age I already knew the drill of waking up in a different city everyday and I loved it! Even though I was always surrounded by music, it was never forced on me. I used to write a lot of stories. When I wrote my first song, I think I had just turned 14, I realized that it was just a new way to write a story. Songs became my favorite way to write stories because songs left open the option of asking questions. A story has too resolve but a song can be about what I don’t understand.”
Tell us more about your amazing new single ‘Dancing Alone’.
J: “Ok ok, I’m so stoked with ‘Dancing Alone’! It’s a happy sounding song about heartbreak. It’s trying to capture the feeling you get when you come home from a rough day and don’t really know how to feel, but you go to your room and put on your favorite song full volume and vibe out to it. It’s definitely a jam and you should definitely listen to it right now.”
If you had to choose, what has been your favorite song you have released so far and why?
J: ‘Dancing Alone’ is by far! It feels like all my favorite songs put together. Songs are interesting and I don’t exactly understand where they come from. Sometimes it takes forever to write a song and you spend three hours on a single line or chord, but I find that the best songs are usually the ones that come completely in tact and are just waiting to be written. Dancing Alone was written in a matter of hours on a detuned acoustic guitar late at night on my porch and I instantly had fell in love with the song.’
How would you personally describe the music scene in San Diego?
The music scene in San Diego is super cool! It’s super diverse with some super cool music and some music that isn’t as cool, but what is awesome about it, is that it doesn’t feel competitive. Everyone is stoked to play with you and share their experience in music with you. I actually met someone today, who wants to write a song with me while I was surfing!
If you could collab on a song with any artist, who would it be and why?
J: “I mean Paul McCartney, cause like, it’s Paul McCartney! But more reasonably than a Beatle would be Phoebe Bridgers. I would just be stoked to even get a chance to write with her even if the song never came out. Phoebe’s lyrics are just too good!”
You are going to perform several times in May! What do you love the most about performing live?
J: “I am so excited for all my upcoming shows! I feel like a song’s never really done till you play it for an audience. I can be a shy person and I really feel like I get to be myself when I’m performing my songs. When someone tells me they connect to my lyrics it means the world to me.”
Can we expect more music from you this year?
J: “Definitely! Not gonna throw around a release date yet, but there is definitely an EP in the near future…”
Where can we follow your amazing journey?
J: “You can find me on Instagram @jetteeband or any music streaming service under Jettee. If you do find me, feel free to reach out and say hi! I would be stoked to meet you.”
