Hillary Reese On Her Biggest Musical Influences And New Single ‘All The Good Ones Are Crazy’

We had the amazing honor of talking with Hillary about the idea of going on tour, how she would describe her music, and more!

If you were given the opportunity to tour, would you do it?

H: “Absolutely! There is nothing I love doing more than playing live. Connecting with an audience on a face to face level is surreal. Touring is definitely something I would love to do.

 What is your usual songwriting process like?

H: “When I write a song I have to take all distractions away. That usually means putting my phone away, lighting a candle or making sure there aren’t any tasks on my to-do list looming over me, so that I can give 100% of my attention to the song.”

What advice would you give to emerging musicians?

H: “Make sure you have a true love and passion for music. When you aren’t grounded in your artistry, the other parts of this industry can become overwhelming and sometimes debilitating. When you are grounded in your music, no one can take that joy away from you.”

How would you describe your music in one sentence?

H: “I would say my music is “old meets new.” My music encompasses a lot of things you already know and some you aren’t familiar with yet.”

What is the story behind your upcoming single “All the Good Ones are Crazy”?

H: “This song is about my family. It’s all about embracing where you come from and how you were raised. Everything in the song is true, so you just might get a laugh out of it!”

Who do you consider to be your musical influencers?

H: “I have so many musical influences from Dolly Parton and Loretta Lynn to Guns n Roses and Aerosmith. I listen to all types of music and appreciate it for different things.”

What has been your reaction to receiving over 100K+ streams on your music so far?

H: “Saying I’m overwhelmed is an understatement. I can’t believe that there are that many people that would listen to my songs and hopefully they listened and liked it!”
