We had the absolute honor of talking with Gabriella
Q: When did you first realize your love of music?
G: “I have always had a love for music growing up and I grew up constantly with music around me. My dad is a drummer in a British Invasion band; so I was exposed to different genres at a young age. I would sign up for every talent show or just any chance I could sing, I would. The more I invested myself in music, the more I became obsessed with the idea of being a musician professionally.“
Q: Tell us about your incredible new single “Paranoid”.
G: “Thank you so much for saying that, it’s different from all my other singles I have released. During the pandemic I was able to sit down and listen to all types of music. I became obsessed with pop punk and artists like Nessa Barett, Jxdn, MGK, or any Travis Barker project. The emotion plays with the instruments. I have always wanted to write a song about my mental health. When I wrote Paranoid I was struggling with my anxiety and I wanted to be honest about that.“
Q: How would you describe your songwriting process?
G: “Everyone has a different take on songwriting and the way it should be done. Personally I don’t think there is a formula to it. Sometimes I have a melody on my phone I use, then sing random rhythms, write to that random melody. Sometimes I am in a studio and have someone produce a beat then I start writing to that. I get inspired by street signs, buildings, phrases, etc for song titles and even song lyrics. I wrote “Bad Love” in 10 minutes while I was babysitting. But trust me there are days where sessions don’t work. But when that happens just take a step back, you don’t want to force anything.“
Q: What has been your favorite experience so far?
G: “My favorite experience was when I was featured in Rolling Stone India. They featured me in upcoming artists which included my single “Dirty Laundry”. It was such an experience to see my face near Selena Gomez, who was on the cover for that month.“
Q: If you could feature on a song with any artist, who would it be and why?
G: “I would have to say Harry Styles or Miley Cyrus. They are both unapologetically themselves and love to push the envelope. Being an artist is all about being comfortable in yourself and then making art from that comfortability“
Q: When not creating bops, what are some things that you like to do?
G: “I am such a homebody so probably binge watching a show. I have always been a loner and comfortable with being by myself. I love doing spa nights with myself and putting on Clueless. I love to cook and spend time with my family.“
Q: What are your biggest goals for your career?
G: “My biggest goal of my career would be to be able to go on tour one day. I would love to meet the people who relate to my music. Music has truly saved me from myself and I would love to be that for someone. I mean one or two grammy’s wouldn’t hurt my career either.“
Q: Where can we follow your amazing journey?
G: “All my social media links are on my website which is Gabriella Stella | Singer and you can listen to “Paranoid” and my other singles on all streaming platforms now. Thank you New Scene Magazine for having me!“
