The horror movie queen is here!
If you have been watching spooky movies than you definitely have seen Karen Cliche on your screen before. She recently starred in the blockbuster film ‘Thanksgiving’, alongside so many of our favorites like Milo Manheim and Patrick Dempsey.
We had the amazing honor of speaking with Karen about SAW 6, her daughter following in her footsteps, and more!
Tell us more about your amazing role in the popular film ‘Thanksgiving’.
K: “I play Kathleen, the fiancé of a successful store owner who fights to keep the store open on Thanksgiving and suffers a pretty epic fate because of this. I wanted her to not just be a straight up gold
digger vibe, but to keep the audience wondering if she is really in love with her fiancé, just shallow and competitive with her step daughter, or if she has an agenda. I love hearing that in the end, despite mixed feelings, people felt sorry for her.”
Speaking of Thanksgiving, what did you do (or eat) this year for the holiday?
K: “This year was a bit different and non traditional. I recently separated after 18 years of marriage, so I am just living in the moment now. Tradition has taken on a smaller role in my life. So I was with friends, my daughter, at the gym and doing some acting coaching on zoom. These are the things that I am grateful for right now in my life.”
This film truly is star-studded! What was it like working with Addison Rae?
K: “She is the sweetest! Beautiful and kind. The whole cast is. I had most of my scenes with Rick Hoffman and Patrick Dempsey. Definitely can’t complain about sharing the screen with the Sexiest Man Alive!”
Is there an actor/actress you would love to work with next?
K: “I would love to work with Eli Roth as an actor, that would be so fun. I admire Charlize Theron’s career so I would be honoured to work with her as well. My ultimate dream is to be in a comedy with the cast of Best In Show, with improv. They are geniuses! And if they ever do a 3rd season of White Lotus, I would jump at the chance!“
You have been in so many horror movies! Were you always a fan of the horror genre, or were you afraid as a kid?
K: “I never really get scared of slasher films – although as a kid Nightmare on Elm Street terrified me. I am more afraid of psychological/ paranormal horror like the Exorcist and still do not watch those to this day! But when you are acting in these movies, you obviously know it is fake, but have to try to believe it is
happening in order to sell it. I was actually 3 months pregnant on SAW 6 on that carousel screaming my head off for 2 days. My poor baby must have been wondering what was going on out there haha.”
You have a teenage daughter! Has she seen any of your projects?
K: “She has seen the trailer for Thanksgiving only. She is almost 14 so I am sure she will watch it at one point in the coming years. For now all she has is the poster in her room!”
Do you think you will encourage her to pursue a career in acting?
K: “She does want to be an actress. As a family, we created and produced a local tv series for 2 seasons featuring her as the host of fun adventures with dad, and she did great at just 10 years old. She has done school plays, and loves musicals, so I will let her follow her heart! All we want as parents is for her to be authentic and follow her passions.”
Where can we follow your amazing journey?
K: “I am on instagram @karencliche.”
Make sure to watch Karen in ‘Thanksgiving’, still available in theatres everywhere!
