The indie artist you didn’t know you needed.
With a beautiful voice and impressive songwriting skills, PEGGY deserves to be on your favorite Spotify playlist. And, if we could choose one song to be added first, it would have to be her most recent single ‘Alice’.
When did you first realize that you wanted to pursue a career in music?
P: “When I was a kid I went to a Sara Bareilles concert when I was eleven or twelve years old, she ended up speaking to me from the stage and asking permission to sing a song that was a bit more explicit and that interaction was enough for me to go home and write my first song the next day! She is one of my biggest musical inspirations to this day.”
Tell us more about your amazing new single ‘Alice’.
P: “Alice is about my personal struggle with maladaptive daydreaming growing up and spending too much time in my head. I sort of created this reality for myself that was better than the one that I was in and often spent hours upon hours just sitting in my room and staring at the ceiling imagining up new worlds. It was a blessing and a curse because it did contribute to my creativity in so many ways but it also took away hours and hours of my life and kept me from making relationships with people outside of my own mind.”
We are obsessed with the music video for ‘Alice’! Walk us through the filming experience.
P: “The director of my music video for Alice, Ben Phillippo, and set designers Jaina Cipriano and Adriane Moreno helped to crate a beautiful Victorian style bedroom for us to shoot in! We spent most of the day shooting there and then went outside to an abandoned schoolhouse to shoot the last scenes! It was a really fun experience working with so many talented and creative people and I am so happy you liked the results as much as I did.”
What is your songwriting process usually like?
P: “Usually I start with a concept such as a word or a musical motif and then I build my song from there but every now and then I get my inspiration from books and movies and I write a lot of songs about characters as well.”
If you had to choose, what is your favorite song you have released so far and why?
P: “Honestly I think my favorite song I’ve ever released is my song ‘LOVE’ that I released last year I think it’s a really good representation of what it’s like not having dated anybody in your 20s and how that feels / how it feels to want love so badly but to have never experienced it.”
What has been your reaction to receiving over 15 Million streams on your music?
P: “I actually don’t even know how to react to that I am so incredibly grateful and so happy that people resonate with my music as much as I do I write my music sort of like a diary for myself, so it’s really cool that a lot of people also find solace in the lyrics in the music that I write.”
Can we expect more music from you in the future? Anything you can tease?
P: “Absolutely! I am actually planning on releasing an EP early next year, but before then I will be releasing two more singles, so stay tuned for those ;).”
Where can we follow your amazing journey?
P: “I usually post the most on Instagram and TikTok but I want to start getting into YouTube more as well. I will happily link my social medias below!”
