Mahina Napoleon Names Her Dream Co-Stars And Talks About Role In ‘The Walking Dead: Dead City’

Who’s ready for more Walking Dead? We know we are!

Actress Mahina Napoleon is constantly on our TV screens. And we aren’t complaining! With only a few years in the entertainment industry, she has booked her new role in AMC’s new series ‘The Walking Dead: Dead City’.

We had the amazing honor of talking with Mahina about ‘NCIS: Hawai’i’, her hobbies, and more!

When did you first realize you wanted to pursue a career as an actress?

M: “I have been involved in a local performing arts group in Hawai’i, The Pacific Academy of Performing Arts, ever since I was 4. I also started modeling at a very young age. But I always knew I wanted to do something bigger, like acting. As you can imagine, there were a select few auditioning opportunities for local tv shows based in Oahu, so I was very blessed that the first role that I actually ever landed was Julie Tennant on NCIS: Hawai’i.”

Tell us more about your character in the upcoming series ‘The Walking Dead: Dead City’.

M: “My character Ginny is a young, resilient, strong girl born in the zombie apocalypse. She hasn’t spoken a single word since she encountered a very traumatic event in her past. She’s a survivor, but underneath it all, she’s still just a kid – a kid who trusts Negan, who has reluctantly taken her under his wing.”

Were you a fan of the original series? If so, who was your favorite character, and why?

M: “Yes, I am an original fan of The Walking Dead. My Dad and I watched it all the time when I was younger (and no, I was not scared, surprisingly). If I had to choose my favorite character, I would have to say Glen (Steven Yeun). Glen is the sweetest character; he was the one at the very beginning to save Rick from that herd of walkers. He is an OG character and the husband of Maggie (Loren Cohan), my co-star.”

Do you think you would survive in a zombie apocalypse?

M: “I think I could survive a zombie apocalypse. I would just need the right support, supplies, and a sturdy place to protect me from any walkers that may be coming my way.”

You also starred in ‘NCIS: Hawai’i’! What was that experience like?

M: “The experience on NCIS: Hawai’i is definitely WAY different than THE WALKING DEAD: DEAD CITY. For example, my characters are the complete opposite: in NCIS Hawai’i, my character Julie is a sweet and innocent young girl who plays soccer, has a brother and parents, and isn’t living in an apocalypse.

I also really love all of the cast and crew on NCIS Hawai’i. We are truly like one big ‘Ohana (Family)! Not to mention, it’s great to be able to film in my home town and be around my family and friends. I have so much fun on the set of NCIS: Hawai’i, and I am so excited to continue working on that show!”

You have already worked with some amazing stars! Who would be your dream co-star?

M: “My dream co-star would probably be either Millie Bobby Brown or Zendaya. I would absolutely faint if I landed a role with either one of them. I absolutely adore their work and would love to have the opportunity to stand in the same room with them!!!”

When not acting, what are some of your favorite things to do?

M: “When I’m not acting, I LOVE to sing, snowboard, and surf. I probably enjoy singing the most because my whole family sings, so it’s fun to be able to participate in our family karaoke nights. I have also been singing my entire life in performing arts and around the house.”

Where can we follow your amazing journey?

M: “You can follow me on Tik Tok @Itsmahinanapoleon and on Instagram @MahinaNapoleon.”
