Khobe Clarke Talks About The Exploration Of Acting And Role In Season 2 Of ‘Firefly Lane’

An actor you need to pay attention to!

You might notice him from his amazing role in Netflix’s hit series ‘Firefly Lane’. Or from his role in the star-studded Showtime series ‘Yellowjackets’. Or both. Either way, Khobe Clarke is quickly becoming a name to know.

We had the amazing honor of talking with Khobe about time travel, advice for aspiring actors, and more!

What do you love the most about acting?

K: “The emotional and physical exploration of it. No job calls on you to wake up and go to work to cry, or hysterically laugh, or fight someone with a lightsaber. Total expression of yourself under a thousand differently shaded lights. Every kid loves to play pretend.”

Tell us more about your amazing role in Netflix’s ‘Firefly Lane’.

K: “I play Coop! A popular football jock growing up in the 1970s who explores his sensitive side, battles with his identity and falls in love with Kate Malarkey!”

Do you think you have anything in common with your character Coop?

K: “Yeah, I certainly do. In high school I loved the theatre, but I also loved playing sports. I often found myself coming late to basketball practices with stage makeup still on my face from the rehearsal I was just at. My friends on the ball team loved to remind me how weird they thought I was. Every kid in high school finds themselves wondering what they love and enjoy, I think balancing two completely different passions whilst caring about your “image” is where Coop and I relate the most. It all seems so trivial now that I look
back. If you want to dance in tights an hour before a basketball game, you should do it and block out anybody who tells you otherwise. Coop let those around him get the best of him.”

For your new role, your character is set in the 70s. If you could personally time travel to any time period, which would it be and why?

K: “I think I would go way way way into the future, long after any of us are around. I would see how we solved or didn’t solve problems that we face today. I would also be curious how we get around. Still in autonomous vehicles? Or do we get sucked through vacuum powered tubes that get us from New York to Tokyo in 25 minutes?”

The new part of Season 2 is out now! What are you most excited for fans to see?

K:I am excited for people to see the power of friendship that spans over decades. Have your tissue close by towards the end.”

You have also starred in ‘Yellowjackets’! What was that experience like?

K: “Starred is a super generous word! Yellowjackets was an incredible experience, my very first paid acting job. It was daunting and scary but man oh man, when you get to set and you see your character’s name on your trailer door and there is like, free snacks and coffee anytime you want it’s amazing. That show, that job, meant the world to me because it was the first time I thought to myself “I could maybe do this for a living!”. I am so glad it is doing so well.”

What is your best piece of advice for young boys who want to pursue a career in acting?

K: “I am still figuring out the answers myself! Get some headshots, find a class where you feel challenged yet accepted and get an agent. Your acting ability is like a tool, or a muscle. You must sharpen or exercise it to keep it sharp or strong. “If you can do anything else, do it” is a quote I think of often. If you want to act, you better really love it because it is full of hardship, rejection, and empty promises. And have fun!”

Where can we follow your amazing journey?
