Tell us more about your amazing new single ‘Mess Me Up’.
C: “I wanted to write about those first love experiences where you are still trying to figure it all out. What the other person is feeling, what I’m feeling…the whole ride you go on when you’re falling for someone. Can get confusing but you try to play it cool & be real at the same time. It’s got my vibe & energy. I think it’s real & kids my age can relate to it. It has some edge to it. Want fans to really feel this one!”
What was your favorite moment from winning The Voice?
C: “The entire experience was once in a lifetime. To go through it & have success at such a young age taught me a lot. My best moments were meeting such amazing, talented people. I can say I met some of my best friends there. I also gained an incredible coach & supporter in Gwen. I love her, she’s the best! I’ve grown a lot since then, I love sharing this next chapter & who I am today with everyone.”
Who would be your dream artist to collaborate with?
C: “Hard to name just one! I have a lot of newer, up & coming artists that I would love to collab with in the future. My major influences like Harry Styles, Shawn Mendes, Justin Bieber, and Taylor Swift would be a dream come true!”
What is one of your best tips for other aspiring young artists?
C: “Go chase your dream if you want it & be good to yourself along the way. It’s hard being your own toughest critic. There’s enough of that out there on social media. Stay consistent in creating, writing & put yourself out there. Enjoy the process of growing, finding out who you are as an artist, what your vision is. Do what you love every day, but be good to you!”
If you could describe your music journey so far in three words, what would they be?
C: “Growth, self-awareness, confidence.”
What are some of your biggest career goals for your future?
C: “I want to connect with my fans at a level where we grow up together. I want to blow up Spotify, hear my songs on the radio & play sold out shows because what I’m saying & my music is making people feel something they can relate to. Hopefully bringing some smiles & tears along the way that make people feel good, feel like they have a friend they can listen to & who hears them. I guess that is what they mean when you build a real community of fans. I’m excited to do that!”
Where can we follow your amazing journey?
C: “Spotify & all music platforms, @carterjrubin on TikTok, Instagram, YouTube”
