This single took us to church!
Christian artist Laurel Taylor has been bridging the gap between classic Nashville sound and her religion. And now, she’s back with her second single: ‘Old House’.
We had the amazing honor of talking with Laurel about her Music City, her dream performance venue, and more!
When did you first realize that you wanted to pursue a music career?
L: “Music isn’t music to me anymore. It is therapy and healing for people. It makes you feel a certain way. When I realized that my songs are stories that are of restoration and joy, I knew I could do this forever.”
Tell us more about your amazing new single ‘Old House’. What is its meaning?
L: “I heard a quote that said “bringing up my past is like robbing a house that is no longer there.” That gave me the idea to write truth about not allowing anybody to tell you who and/or what you are. It is a story about someone who doesn’t live in their past anymore but has moved on to “the now”.”
What has been your reaction to having received over 1 Million streams on your music, on just Spotify alone!
L: “It is really cool to see someone connect to one song so deeply. That was all organic! The reaction to “One Step” gave me the push to keep going.”
We absolutely love your merch design! What inspired you to choose a smiley face as the logo?
L: “I have this one pink smiley face hat that I always wear and it brings so much joy! Everybody knows me as the one that will wear a hat and it is a smiley face hat every time. I wanted something that represents myself and my personality and it fits me perfectly.”
How would you personally describe the Nashville music scene?
L: “I believe there is a lot of talent in Music City, but it is another thing to have a gift. That is very few and far in between. Talent will only take you so far.”
What do you enjoy the most about performing live?
L: “Every second that I am performing, I look at it as an opportunity to impact the lives of the people in the crowd.”
What are your New Year’s Resolutions for your music career this year?
L: “My biggest dream and goal is to play at the Grand Ole Opry! I want to be multiple steps closer to that this year.”
Where can we follow your amazing journey?
L: “Instagram: @laureltaylorofficial | Website: wwwlaureltaylormusic.com.”
