Tabay Atkins Talks About His New Food Truck And Becoming The Face Of Nike Yoga

This isn’t the first time you’ve heard about Tabay!

At just 17 years old, yogi Tabay Atkins is changing the world through nutrition education and environmental activism. His most recent accomplishment is opening his brand new food truck ‘Tabay’s Mindful Kitchen’.

We had the amazing honor of talking with Tabay about giving back, working with celebrities, and more!

What first sparked your interest in yoga and sustaining a clean lifestyle?

T: “I first got interested in yoga after watching how the yoga practice helped my mom heal from the effects of chemotherapy and cancer. This was my first introduction to yoga, as well as my mom’s, and it inspired me to start living and sharing this healing practice. Since then, I have been learning more and more about clean and sustainable living, and have been making that be a part of my life.”

You have instructed several popular celebrities and philanthropists. Have you ever been starstruck by one of your clients?

T: No, I am not the kind of person who gets starstruck, especially when teaching.”

Tell us more about your amazing new food truck ‘Tabay’s Mindful Kitchen’.

T: My new food truck serves vegan versions of fast food favorites and comfort food classics. My mission is to help people live a life that is healthy for them, sustainable for the planet, and compassionate to all living beings. My food truck allows me to do just that! By bringing vegan food that tasted just like the non-vegan originals, people can overcome the main reason holding them back from a plant-based diet… fear of missing the flavors we all know and love. It works, too. More than 90% of our customers are not yet vegan, and they keep coming back because they enjoy my food more than the non-vegan food we are trying to mimic!”

From burgers, to tacos, to even chili, your truck has it all! Do you have a favorite item on the menu?

T: My personal favorite menu item is the Pho. It is so delicious and so healing. It is not just my favorite, though. Everyone loves the pho! My family, my friends, and our customers all love it. That is why I named it, Everyone’s Phavorate Pho!”

What are your favorite organizations to support and give back to?

T: “My favorite organizations and charities to support are SavingSophie.org, The Jessie Rees Foundation, Kindred Spirit Sanctuary, Teen Cancer America, and PETA.”

You are one of the youngest models for the iconic company Nike. What was your reaction to being the face of their yoga collection?

T: “Becoming part of the Nike Yoga family has been amazing! They have shown me nothing but kindness, and I could not be happier to work with them. Being a Nike athlete is exciting enough, but seeing my pictures in the Nike stores was so cool! It was such a thrilling experience!”

Is there any advice you can give to your fans who are also thinking about pursuing a career in yoga?

T: Yoga is such a great career to pursue because the more you teach, the more you benefit from it as well. It also gives you a good feeling to know that your work is helping people stay healthy, active, and more mindful. If teaching yoga is something that you want to do, find the type of yoga that you want to teach, and take a teacher training.”

Where can we follow your amazing journey?

T: “The best place to find out more about me, my upcoming projects, the food truck, and more, is on social media. On Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok, I am @TabayAtkins and the food truck is @TabaysMindfulKitchen.”
