Is there anything she can’t do!
Sofie Dossi first got our attention as a golden-buzzer performer on ‘America’s Got Talent’ and has since given us years of hilarious contortion videos on Youtube with collabs with the biggest influencers. Now, she’s getting ready to make waves in the music industry with her new single ‘Bunny’!
We had the amazing honor of talking with Sofie about what it’s like working with her brother, love of music, and more!
When did you first realize that you wanted to pursue a career in music?
S: “Music has always been a part of my life, but as a secondary love since my first passion was my contortion. The day I decided to do more with music was when I realized that it helped me heal from a heartbreak. I had come home one day after being out with this guy I really liked and went into my brother’s music studio all emotional and confused. He was playing a cool beat, and I told him a little about what was going on, and he said, “let’s make a song.” From there, we’d meet up in the studio and started a fun collaboration.”
Tell us about your amazing debut single ‘Bunny’.
S: “It’s about my first crush –a confusing time of mixed contradictory emotions. What’s funny is that it never really looked like I was going through anything negative on the outside. Most of the people in my life, family and most friends, had no idea that I was going through this. I think a lot of people are going through things – whether it’s a breakup or something else—that looks like it’s no big deal on the outside, but in reality, they’re really hurting inside. That’s what’s so interesting. Somebody can really be hurt and angry and be feeling really bad, but they look like they’re fine on the outside. It was an experience of a teenage girl with new emotions she’s never experienced. But I got through it and can smile about that now because I’ve learned and grown from it.”
This single was also co-written by Zak Dossi. How does it feel to work closely with your brother?
S: “My brother and I have always been so close. He’s an incredible producer and songwriter and has tons going on in his own musical journey. When the two of us sit down to write, something special always happens because of how close and open we are as siblings. Being able to blend our careers together at this point is very special to me.”
If you could collab with any artist in the future on a song, who would it be and why?
S: “I love Melanie Martinez. She actually was the first artist I ever found who I felt a connection to and helped inspired me to become a singer. It would be incredible to work with her.”‘
What are your biggest goals for your music career?
S: “I want to expand and reach a new audience who I can speak with directly through my music, so I can share a new side of me no one has seen before, what I’ve gone through, and help them. Music can tell our stories in ways that words can’t.”
Can we expect more music from you in the future?
S: “Oh yes! I have more music coming for sure!”
Is there anything you would like to say to your fans where pre-saved and ready for the release?
S: “I have the best supporters ever. They’re always the first ones to support me on every new venture I’ve tried. No matter what age, or where they’re from, they’re right there growing up with me. I want to continue to create content and music to entertain them in the best way possible.”
Where can we follow your amazing journey?
S: “I’m @sofiedossi on all platforms!”
