This young actress is headed for stardom!
You may recognize Isabella as the screen-favorite role of ‘Maisie’ in the frightful franchise ‘Jurassic World’. Now in theatres, get tickets to see this actress star in ‘Jurassic World: Dominion.’
We had the absolute honor of talking with Isabella about her love of dinosaurs, dream role, and more!
When did you first realize that you wanted to pursue acting?
I: “I remember being about 9 years old and being cast as James in James and The Giant Peach at my primary school, and I think that’s when I first discovered that I actually enjoyed acting.”
Tell us about your amazing re-occurring role in the new film “Jurassic World: Dominion”.
I: “Dominion takes place 4 years after the end of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, so we find Maisie hiding in a cabin in the woods along with Owen and Claire, who are trying to keep her safe from scientists that may want to harm her. But, obviously as a teenager, she is naturally inquisitive and wants to be independent, so that creates a few problems.”
Do you feel as though you have anything in common with ‘Maisie’?
I: “Maisie and I are very similar in a lot of ways, apart from her being a clone. She and I are both very curious, and have a large desire for independence and adventure and both of us like to take on challenges that we may not be quite prepared for. I think we would also have a very similar music taste.”
Were you a fan of the original Jurassic Park movies?
I: “I actually am a big fan of all things dinosaurs. I remember when I was about 5, which is definitely too young to be watching basically a dinosaur horror film, I saw Jurassic Park for the first time and I was completely blown away. I loved dinosaurs as a child and remember having a huge plastic bucket of them which I would always play with them as a kid, so that added to my enjoyment of the film.”
This franchise has resulted in you working along a star-studded cast. Have you ever been starstruck on set?
I: “Oh for sure, with basically every single member of the cast. I remember when I met Laura for the first time, I was a little bit – actually very – speechless, because Little Women is one of my favorite films, and suddenly Mrs March was standing in front of me. I think one of the most amazing things about working on both films was the amount that I learnt just by watching the rest of the cast work and collaborate together.”
In general acting, is there a type of role/character you have always wanted to play?
I: “At this moment in time, I would love to play a really honest portrayal of a young woman. I think that the emotional rollercoasters of growing up is such an interesting topic, and that is why I love films like Ladybird and Babyteeth, because the adolescent brain works in a strange and different way to an adults, and it makes for a very interesting film.”
While this franchise is seemingly ending, can we expect to see you on our screens in the future?
I: “I am actually sitting my GCSE exams at the moment, so I am rather busy with that, but I guess you will just have to wait and see…”
When not acting, what are some of your favorite things to do?
I: “I love listening to music, photography, drawing, reading and writing. I guess you could say I am a true creative at heart. I also just love going to the cinema to watch films.”
Over the years you have gained a large and loyal following. Is there anything you want to say to your fans?
I: “I would like to tell them that if they are reading this, I am very grateful for all of their support, and I would also love to tell them to go and see Dominion on as big of a screen as they can. It is awesome!”
Where can we follow your amazing journey?
I: “You can find me on @iamizzysermon on instagram!”
