This young actor is becoming a Disney icon!
This isn’t the first time you’ve seen Award-Winning actor Andre Robinson. He has had starring vocal roles in everything from Disney’s ‘Doc Mcstuffins’ to Nickelodeon’s “The Loud House”. Now, he’s back with his newest role as ‘DJ’ in the Disney+ reboot film “Cheaper By The Dozen”.
We had the amazing honor of talking with Andre on his favorite roles so far, how he got into the industry, and more!
If you had a magic wand, what movie or TV series would you like to be a part of?
A: “Arcane! That show is fire and I’d love to be a character on it.”
What inspired you to become an actor?
A: “When I was six years old, my mom quit her job to stay home with me. Her good friend, who managed children, encouraged her to put me in the entertainment industry. She decided to give it a try for the fun of it, not knowing I’d enjoy it and soar. I absolutely love it.”
Who do you consider to be your favorite actor and why?
A: “Chadwick Boseman because he was an acting genius! His range was incredible. He was my idol. RIP Chadwick.”
What message do you have for those interested in helping the homeless and the hungry?
A: “I would encourage people interested in helping to google non profit organizations in your area wherein they can give their time or financial gift. Anything helps. We also put snacks and water in our car and hand them to those we come across. The small gestures go a long way.”
What’s something we should know about the Cheaper by the Dozen film reboot that might surprise us?
A: “It was written and produced by Kenya Barris, the creative force behind such popular television shows as “Black-ish,“ “Grown-ish,“ and “Mixed-ish,“ who has the ability to tell immersive stories with compelling, relatable characters who are endearing and hilarious.”
Do you think that you have anything in common with your character ‘DJ’?
A: “DJ is lovable, super smart, and nerdy. Comic books and superheroes totally excite him. That was easy to play because I actually love comic books and superheroes in real life. My dad and I are marvel fans! I’m far from nerdy, but definitely lovable and smart.”
What lesson has the entertainment industry taught about you?
A: “I’ve learned not to take rejection personally. You never know what casting, directors, and producers are fully looking for. So I try to give a great performance and have fun in the process!”
What is something people would be surprised to learn about you?
A: “I had rough beginnings. I was born with a hole in my heart and had open heart surgery at 7 months old. It was successful, so thankfully, I only needed one surgery, I rolled over for the first time at 8 months old and sat up for the first time at 9 months. Ever since then my parents said I couldn’t be stopped. LOL.”
So far, what has been your favorite role so far and why?
A: “Theatrically, definitely DJ on Cheaper By The Dozen. Working with the cast was exhilarating everyday. I made such great friends.
Vocally, Niko on Niko & The Sword of Light on Amazon Prime. The entire cast was voiceover legends—Andrea Romano (Director), Tom Kenny, Dee Bradley, Jim Cummings, Kari Wahlgren, Steve Blum, and Kevin Michael Richardson. I was beyond blessed to work alongside them. 10. Where can we follow your amazing journey?”
