Artist Ladi Rosa On Billboard Charts, Jack Harlow, And New Single ‘Dull’

This young singer is already in the big leagues!

We can guarantee that this isn’t the first time you’ve heard of Ladi. After chart-topping with her hit single, ‘I Ain’t No Taylor Swift’, this singer is back with her new breakup song ‘Dull’.

We had the amazing honor of talking with Ladi on her Latin heritage, the pandemic, and more!

Let’s talk about your single “I Ain’t No Taylor Swift” that hit the Billboard charts. You were about 15 at the time, what was it like to make such an accomplishment as a young teenager?

L: “Yes, at the time I was 15 years old. A sophomore in high school so it was definitely a special and very exciting moment in my life. I remember having everyone coming up to me telling me how awesome the video was and how the views on the video just kept climbing. Overall, it’s a very special memory I hold.”

Out of all the female singers, what made you use Taylor Swift’s name in the song? Do you believe she’s heard the song?

L: At the time and even still to this day Taylor was and still is an amazing artist in which, a good amount of young people idolize her and want to be her. I used her as an example for the sole purpose of telling young teens and girls my age that it is perfectly fine to be different and to just love your self no matter what people say or think about you. I really don’t know if Taylor Swift has heard the song yet but I’m pretty sure that she would approve of it.”

You’re also showing a lot of Latina girl-power in the song. Talk to me about how important your culture is to you and why it’s important to represent it in your music.

L:Me being a Latina with descendants from Puerto Rico I really take pride of where me and my family are from. Having said that, there are millions of girls like myself who have the same dreams as me but unfortunately do not have the same opportunity as I have. I really want to show everyone that when you really love something never give up on that dream. So I really try to make my music so that my latin community can enjoy it as well as everyone else.”

You released “I Ain’t No Taylor Swift” just a month after the pandemic began. How does the pandemic affect your music-making process?

L: Well, to be honest with you all the pandemic has not changed my music making process. Actually, to be honest with you the pandemic slowed everything down but with that down time i was able to write new music which I’m very happy with and will be releasing very soon. What the pandemic has definitely slowed down has been process of my music career. Not being able to promote my songs at events or even being able to perform in little restaurant gigs really took a toll. All my promotions were via my Instagram and even Facebook. Even though the pandemic slowed down the process, the overall outcome couldn’t have been better.”

You recently released a breakup song called “Dull”. What inspired that song?

L: “I made ‘Dull’ around some time last year. I was going through a rough time in my relationship at the time so I wrote a song based off of my pure emotions at the time. Things have definitely changed in my relationship and don’t get me wrong I still love the song but at this moment it is for all my listeners who are having those rough times in life.”

In both “I Ain’t No Taylor Swift” and “Dull” you have this persona that says you aren’t going to let anyone deter you from who you are or bring you down. Where did that confidence come from?

L: “Honestly, Confidence is key in whatever you decide to do in life. I have always been very confident in what I do. Specially if I’m good or love something and know that I can impact myself or someone else’s life you can be sure that I will definitely be super confident and sure of myself.”

You were releasing music while still in high school and were even a cheerleader. How do you balance your personal life and school all while being an artist?

L: “I still am in high school and will be graduating this year in June. It is not really hard for me to balance my personal life and my business life. I really just take time to get all my work done just so I could have enough time to relax and enjoy my teenage life. Mind set is everything when trying to balance multiple things at once.”

What’s a favorite song of your own that you have put out and why?

L: A favorite song of mine would definitely have to be ‘Personal Space’. Coming from ‘I Ain’t no Taylor Swift’ to this song was a bit of a change for me, which was the change I was feeling and wanted to make. Overall, making the song in the studio to shooting the music video was very fun and I really enjoyed everything about it. If you haven’t listened to it yet you can check out my Spotify or even Youtube!”

What are you hoping to accomplish in the next 5 years as an artist?

L: My main goal is to have at least a song with either Jack Harlow or Luke Combs. I would also like to have a couple of country songs out as well. A few Grammy awards are also on my goal list for sure.”

Who are your favorite artists and is there anyone you dream of working with in the future?

L: “I really would love to work with Jack Harlow, Luke Combs, and anyone who is willing to work with me!
