This amazing actress just started a new venture!
You might recognize Muretta for starring in Nickelodeon’s recent film “A Loud House Christmas” as Rita Loud. Now, she’s back in the limelight after recently launching her brand new podcast “Counter Parenting”.
We had the amazing opportunity of talking with Muretta on dream podcast guest, something she would tell her younger self, and more!
When did you first realize that you wanted to become an actress?
M: “I’ve always been a late bloomer and it wasn’t until college that the acting bug bit me. When I had the opportunity to set foot on a film set and see what it takes to make a movie, I was hooked. It was epic and life-changing. So maybe it wasn’t when I realized I wanted to become an actress, but when I knew it could be possible. I didn’t grow up surrounded by anyone in the industry so the mystical world on the other side of the TV box was never reality or something obtainable. Stepping on that film set made a creative life more tangible and I knew I wanted in. I started taking professional acting classes, got an agent, and the rest is a work-in-progress.”
How would you describe your podcast Counter Parenting in one sentence?
M: “Parenting advice for the stepparent.
Is that all I get?! (laughs) It’s parenting from a stepparent’s perspective, but it really has been validating my feelings—which is an extra bonus because it’s challenging.”
What’s something we should know about your podcast that might surprise us?
M: “I might be the evil stepmom. I say that jokingly, but I believe you have to be self-full not selfless, which may look selfish to some people.”
Who are some guests you’d love to feature on your podcast?
M: “I’d love to have stepparents/primary parents who are best friends and hear how they did it. Also, Jada Pinkett-Smith. She’s a stepmom and I’d love to know how one of the most famous couples managed their blended family.”
What lesson do you hope fans take away from your podcast?
M: “The lesson I want people to take away is that they are doing great. You don’t have to be the perfect parent because no one is. The tough times always pass and you’re doing it, so keep doing it.”
How did you enjoy your role in Nickelodeon’s newest movie “A Loud House Christmas”?
M: “I enjoyed it so much. The creative team behind the movie had a vision that they successfully executed. The ensemble of actors was one of the best parts; they are all so talented and giving.”
What is one thing you wish you could tell your younger self?
M: “That the universe loves you always and that I am intricately worthy—that is a constant.”
What lesson have you learned from being in the entertainment industry?
M: “Editors are so powerful! I wish I was a professional editor—it would make producing my own projects so much more attainable if I could take the footage and edit. I can, but not like a professional. In the beginning, it would have been such a great trade. There are a lot of talented actors out there and I do not want to dismiss my own talent, but if I could act and edit, I would have made some killer short films.”
What is something people would be surprised to learn about you?
M: “That I’ve been on three-game shows: Wheel of Fortune, The Price is Right, and Let’s Make a Deal. I’m impressed by that!”
Where can we follow your amazing journey?
M: “@MurettaMoss on Instagram and Twitter. Thank you!”
