This is just the beginning of what you will see of this amazing actor!

At just 16 years old, actor and performer Jake Satow is quickly making his way into the spotlight. Aside from his several upcoming roles coming out this year, Jake stars as young Christian Holmes alongside Amanda Seyfried in the upcoming, highly-anticipated TV series “The Dropout”.

We had the absolute honor of talking with Jake on his love of theatre, biggest goal, and more!

When did you first realize you wanted to start acting?

J: “I’ve known ever since I can remember!  I always loved performing and started in the theatre at a young age. I first fell in love with acting watching Disney’s Lion King and Newsies on stage on Broadway when I was really little, and I knew I had to act. I performed regularly in community theatre, and there I learned to love working with my peers and giving the best performance that I could. Then I booked my first commercial. There I discovered film was my calling and I decided to learn all I could learn about film. I took a lot of acting and singing classes in New York and LA and have been studying hard and working hard ever since. I absolutely love being on set and being around all the amazing energy on a set, meeting new people and all of us working toward the same goal. I love making new friends and working with old friends who love the craft. I love working in front of the camera and can’t wait to start my next project!”

Tell us about your amazing upcoming role in Hulu’s “The Dropout”.

J:The Dropout is such an amazing story, and it’s the true story of Elizabeth Holmes, the world’s first young female billionaire, played by Amanda Seyfried. Elizabeth rose to power with her company she founded, called Theranos, and it became known for its up-and-coming medical technology. She got the attention of many influential people like Steve Jobs and others, and she was able to get many important people to invest in the company before it completely crashed. I play young Christian Holmes, Elizabeth’s younger brother. Christian also worked for Theranos, and he was by her side through the whole ordeal. They share the experience of having their parents lose their job, which became a life-changing event for my sister. I also had quite the attitude with my big sister, and that was fun to play.”

Do you see any of yourself in your character? In what ways?

J:I always try to bring a little bit of myself to every character. It was fun to bring a little bit of the playful, sarcastic side that I have with some of my siblings to the role. Amanda Seyfried and I look similar, and it was fun playing her sibling. We had a lot of fun things in common, and interestingly, my dad and his family also grew up in Allentown, Pennsylvania where she’s from. We had a great rapport and she made it so comfortable to be myself and to just have fun with the character.”

You have worked with so many star-studded casts. Have you ever been starstruck?

J: “I definitely have a great deal of respect and have felt so honored to work alongside some truly amazing actors and to be able learn from them. I feel really blessed and grateful for the opportunities. It’s wonderful to be able to work alongside other hardworking people who truly love their work. The energy is just amazing and I love learning and working in those environments.”

You have also performed in theatre. Which is more challenging: On camera or on stage?

J: “They both have their challenges, but theatre in some ways can be more pressure in the moment and some added stress if you are doing a lot of shows, yet film at times can also be demanding. But I love them both. The energy in both is amazing and while some skills transfer across both, there are many fun differences.”

When not filming, what are some of your favorite things to do?

J: “I love tennis, school, and playing card games, especially euchre, and I love football. I also learned to play rugby this year for a film I was in, and had an absolute blast learning rugby. It was so much fun. Right now, tennis season is gearing up at my school, and I’m super excited about that! I’ve been playing tennis also since I was 3 years old, and it’s definitely my sport.”

Can we expect to see you on our screens more in 2022?

J: “Yes! For sure! I just wrapped filming a Christmas feature film shot in the Scottish Highlands. That will come out next holiday season, and I also shot a horse movie called Adeline that comes out late summer. Also, in addition to the series, The Dropout ,which airs March 3 on Hulu, I also will appear in Gaslit, with comes out in April on Starz.”

What advice would you give to young actors wanting to pursue an acting career?

J:Follow your dreams. Do the work. Never give up. Work hard to hone your craft, and be ready when a great opportunity meets all your preparation! Do your research!

What are some of your biggest goals for your acting career?

J: I love film. I’m excited to keep learning and working. I love what I’m doing now, and I really look forward to continuing making movies and working with great people. One big dream I have is to someday work with Tom Holland. I want to keep honing my craft and to work in some big films!”
