She really is the definition of a triple threat! Known for her incredible vocals, skilled dancing abilities, and her on-screen acting skills, Sydney is definitely one to watch.
She has been apart of so many recent works, including being a dancer in Netflix’s star-studded film “The Prom”. She even got to star in her own movie with the company, titled “Full Out 2”.
We had the honor on talking with Sydney to keep up with all of her strides in acting, as well as her singing career
Q: What do you like doing in your spare time? (when you are not singing, acting, or dancing)
S: “In my free time I really enjoying spending time with my family and friends! Family has always been such a big part of my life, and we’ve built a great family dynamic with all the memories made and all the more to come!”
Q: What was your inspiration for your past single “oceanlove”?
S: “In the writing and production process for “oceanlove” I actually worked with a friend of mine, Colton Lakey, on the creation of this single! Colton actually initially had the concept of incorporating ocean and love into a song, and together we were able to use our creative minds in the writing process to create the final! Majority of songs have the overall same theme, that either being love, happiness, sadness, etc. So through my creative songwriting process, I try to find unique ways to interpret and portray messages through my music! “
Q: When and why did you decide to pursue an acting career?
S: “Fun story! When I was 11 years old at a dance convention called Camp Pulse in San Antonio, it was the first weekend that the convention included an acting workshop that I decided to try! Lane Napper was teaching, and he pulled my mom and I aside afterwards and shared his input on branching out and exploring the acting world! It had always been an interest of mine, but getting other advice and feedback really helped me pursue something that I have grown such a love for!”
Q: What was the toughest obstacle that you had to overcome on your way to becoming an actress/musician/dancer?
S: “The toughest obstacle for me personally, and I am sure many in the same industry can relate, would have to be all the rejection. There are many times you might feel very confident in an audition or experience that you have done, but could get shot down for who knows what reason. You have to have a strong shield in the industry and stay true to who you are and what you love. Personally, I enjoy the fight, and it makes the “Yes’s” so much better!”
Q: What do you love about your character ‘Chayse’ in Full Out 2?
S: “This experience was so awesome for me! Not only because I had the opportunity to play such an amazing Gymnast, but I was able to meet and get to know the real Chayse Capps! It was really funny because Chayse and I have so much in common, and we are so much alike! She’s such a happy and positive person that gave me lots of energy to play off of and incorporate that into the filming process!”
Q: What inspires you to dance? How does dancing make you feel and what message do you want your audience to take away from your dancing?
S: “Dance has always been such a great release for me. It’s another way to express your emotions and feelings through movements that consist of interpretation and experimenting. Personally, I want to give my audience the opportunity to take away and interpret their own perception of my performance in whatever perspective they desire!”
Q: What is one big career accomplishment that you have made this past year that you are proud of and why?
S: “One accomplishment would definitely be filming Full Out 2! I met so many amazing individuals through the filming process, and it is an experience I get to hold onto forever! With all the great feedback and buzz the film has received so far, it encourages me to continue to work hard at what I love!”
Q: What are some of your future plans/goals for your dance, acting, and music careers?
S: “Right now with all this craziness going on in the world, I have been working hard at continuing my songwriting to share music with others! Staying hopeful at what all is to come, but still working hard to keep things moving and grooving as much as possible! :)”
