‘Tall Girl’s Clara Wilsey Talks Modeling, Inspirations, And Advice

Clara Wisley is best known for her role as mean girl Kimmy in Netflix original Tall Girl. She is a model/actress and was also in the series Ballers. Clara is originally from California but moved to Texas with her family.

We caught up with Clara and thankfully she is the complete opposite of Kimmy, her Tall Girl character and a lovely person inside and out.

Q: You started your career in modeling, What made you want to move into acting?

C: “I kind of accidentally fell into it. But once I tried it out for the first time, I was hooked! I had been told by friends and family my entire life that I should be an actress, I just never really took it seriously until given the opportunity. And now I love it! Nothing makes me happier.”

Q: What did you want to be when you grew up?

C: “I wanted to be a rock star lol! I love music and have always loved entertaining people. I started playing the guitar when I was 7. I stopped for a while, but I just started getting back into it.”

Q: In Tall Girl, you play Kimmy the lovable mean girl but what was high school like for you?

C: “I moved high schools right after my sophomore year so I had 2 very different experiences. I was an art kid but I was friends with everyone, so although I was definitely bullied a bit, I always knew a lot of really cool sweet people that balanced out the mean ones.”

Q: What advice would you give to your high school self?

C: “Go to school and actually try lol. I was notorious for never going to school. I worked in restaurants throughout high school and would skip school to pick up shifts or to sleep in because I was tired from the night before. Now looking back, I definitely missed out on some key lessons that were not worth the extra shift.”

Q: If you could pass one message onto your fans, what would it be?

C: “Be kind and be yourself so you attract people who love you and support you no matter what. We all need a support team.”

Q: Throughout your career, you have worn some stunning outfits, which was your personal favorite and why?

C: “In modelling, I always love shooting wedding dresses. They make you feel like a princess even when you aren’t really the bride. I also love everything Kimmy in Tall Girl wears! She’s so extra and always brings the diva vibes.”

Q: What’s been the best photoshoot you’ve ever been on.

C: “Honestly, any shoot with a good crew and a fun set is my favorite. I especially love location shoots, but I have had some super fun and amazing days in the studio as well.”

Q: Who has been the most inspirational person you have worked with?

C: “The most inspirational person I have worked with is one of my best friends. Ana Tanaka is not only an amazing model, stylist, designer, producer, etc…..she is also an amazing photographer and her ability and drive to be great at all things creative, is so inspirational and she inspires me every day.”

Q: Who would be your dream actor/actress you would like to work with?

C: “Jessica Lange. I just think she is so cool and such an amazing actress and I would love to work on a project with her.”

Q: Would you rather be a superhero or supervillain and what would be your superpower?

C: “Superhero of course! Probably the ability to fly…..or shapeshift.”

Q: Describe your perfect day off and what you do to unwind.

C: “Any day with my friends, outside, with some good wine, and great music is my favorite kind of day.”

Q: What are career plans for the next year?

C: “The only plans I have are to keep gaining acting experience and continue to do what I love.”
