- I think we just found our new favorite singer. Known previously as a singer in the music duo “Lexanna”, Savanna Leigh is ready to thrive on her own, and we are so excited!
Debuting on Celeb Secrets, the young singer just released her new single “No Words”. We were able to talk with her about her new music career, her amazing fashion sense, and her songwriting process.
- Q: Tell us about your new single “ No Words”.
- S: “This song is very special to me.. I wrote it a little over a year ago during a really low point in my life. I had just moved from Florida to Nashville, was starting over in a new place that at first felt very lonely, but on top of everything else my heart had just been completely broken by my first love. This was the first song I had written in years, and it turned out to be my debut single and all that has come with it. It’s crazy to think about. This song was healing for me to write and perform. It helped me explain what I was feeling. At the time I wrote this, I was at a low point in a lot of different aspects in my life, and I felt I had so many emotions that I wanted to convey, but whenever someone would try to help and talk with me about my feelings, I had trouble coming up with the right words to explain them. That’s why I wrote this song. I feel a lot of people can relate to that feeling.”
- Q: What is your favorite part about writing music?
- S: “There are so many things about songwriting that I love. I think my favorite is just the process of bringing a feeling or story that you create to life, in a way that so many people can relate/resonate with it too. It’s crazy how music speaks to people. It’s called the universal language for a reason right? When I’m writing a melody down or a lyric concept and then I add instrumentation and production and it all is eventually complete, there’s nothing like that feeling. The process is hard, but it makes me really dig deep and focus on what I have to say and that’s such an important part of being an artist.. knowing what you wanna say to the world.”
- Q: What has been your reaction to seeing so much success come from your first ever song?
- S: “It has honestly been insane. I know if someone told me a year ago my first song would reach this many streams in under two months, I would’ve said you are crazy haha. The reaction to my song gave me my confidence back as a writer. I just am super happy to see that so many people resonate with these lyrics and with the song. This song will always be so special to me and I’m glad other people think it is special as well. It just makes me want to put out more music and dive more into this part of myself. Music is all I’ve ever wanted to do since I can remember and it’s an amazing feeling to be on that journey right now. “
- Q: If you could be given the opportunity to collab with any singer, who would it be and why?
- S: “There are so many artists I have in mind but one I’d love to collaborate with is Khalid. I’ve loved his music ever since his first release. His voice is very unique to him and I could listen to it for hours. He has made a huge mark on the music industry with his talent and his songs and I think our voices would sound really cool together.”
- Q: How did previously singing with your sister prepare you for your career now?
- S: “I think it prepared me in a lot of different ways. It helped me gain confidence on stage, as a performer stage presence is everything and I have struggled with stage fright most of my life. But singing on stage so much with my sister has helped me with that fear. It also helped me grow so much in my ability to harmonize. As a duo we switched off often on melody and harmony in our songs, and also just singing together as kids writing songs, I quickly learned how to harmonize and that is such a big part of my music now. I love harmonizing on my own vocal tracks for my music and I picture harmonies in my head that compliment my songs when writing now as well. Also, singing with my sister gave me perspective on the business side of music. It helped me get more of a grasp on what goes on behind the scenes not just what people see on the internet/stage. That was very helpful to me in my career now. I learn more everyday.”
- Q: What is your favorite clothing brand?
- S: “Hmm that’s a hard one. I’d have to say either Pacsun or Urban Outfitters.”
- Q: Do you have any future goals for your singing career?
- S: “I have a whole notes folder in my phone about the goals that I have haha… and I add to it daily. But I guess to summarize, a big goal of mine in the future is to just keep growing and learning as an artist. Grow in my writing skills, performance skills, grow my platform, etc. To keep learning more about myself and to really dive completely in and focus on my music career. I want to put an EP out this year and more music and in the future and be able to tour and do music full time.. just to live my dream. “
- Q: Where can we follow your amazing journey?
- S: “On all my social media platforms. I am very active on social media and I am constantly posting updates trying to stay connected with all the amazing people who support me.”
