‘Mean Girls 2’s Meaghan Martin Talks Live Audiences, Living In UK, And Camp Rock Reboot

From “Mean Girls 2”, to “Camp Rock”, to “100 Things I Hate About You”, Meaghan might be an icon in the making. And, after starring in the UK theatre production of “The Actor’s Nightmare” she is not stopping now!

We had the absolute honor of interviewing Meaghan and learning everything from her move to UK, her singing and modeling careers, and her iconic roles.

Q: How have you been since your move to the UK from the US?

M: “My move to the UK was very exciting, I was ready for a change of pace and I love London. The history, the art – it’s a beautiful, buzzy place. I’ve enjoyed my time here so far!”

Q: As far as the entertainment industry, you have done a variety of work, from modeling to singing, to acting. What would you say is your favorite field?

M: “I consider myself an actor first and foremost. I enjoy singing and modeling, but really only when they go along with acting.”

Q: You have starred in several iconic roles, from Jo Mitchell in “Mean Girls 2” to Bianca in “10 Things I Hate About You”. What would you say has been your favorite role so far, and why?

M: “I have been really lucky to play many interesting characters. I think one of my favorites so far was definitely Bianca Stratford. Working on “10 Things I Hate About You” was such a brilliant learning experience that I wouldn’t trade for anything. I liked how bold and creative Bianca was, and it was the perfect time in my own life to be playing her.”

Q: Speaking of roles, not only have you been in films, but you have partaken in some of the best theatre productions. Do you enjoy seeing the audience’s reaction later on, after a film has been released, or do you prefer watching their reactions on a theatre stage?

M: “Working with a live audience in theatre is one of my favorite things as an actor. Having that immediate reaction and using that to inform your performance can create magical moments. However, it can be refreshing to film and have the anticipation of how an audience will react at a later date.”

Q: During your run on “The Actor’s Nightmare”, was there anything you always did right before a show?

M: “A boring answer, but I always did my voice and body warm up. A very important part of keeping up with 8 shows a week. It was a very energetic show, and I had to be sure I was thoroughly warmed up before starting.”

Q: Based on your experiences, if you could give any advice to aspiring actors, what would you say?

M: “I would say to an aspiring actor, be sure the love and passion for performing is there. I’ve been told by a lot of people, and I agree, “it’s a marathon not a sprint”. It’s a difficult business with a lot of ups and downs, but if you have the passion, that’s what matters most.”

Camp Rock' stars: Where are they now?

Q: Our fans also love your role as Tess in the Camp Rock film series. What was that experience like for you?

M: “I had a wonderful time playing Tess, and I’m so thankful to have had that experience, it really was life changing.”

Q: Hollywood is turning to remake iconic movies and films recently. If there ever were a Camp Rock threequel or any sort of Reboot based on the films, would you partake?

M: “I would totally be up for a re-boot/Camp Rock 3! I’m not sure it will ever happen, but I wouldn’t be against it.”

Q: We are absolutely honored to interview you. Is there anything you would like to say to your fans who have supported you throughout your career so far?

M: “Aw thank you so much!! I’m so thankful for the support I’ve received throughout my career. I love hearing from fans, and especially love that I’ve been able to watch a generation of Camp Rock fans grow up – it’s very special.”
