This actress is turning to her music side, and we couldn’t be happier!
Known for her roles on “Malibu Surf” and “City Girls”, this young actress is not holding back.
The amazing bop is a women-empowerment anthem about sticking together when dealing with boys not worth their time. When asked about the song inspiration, Ally said,
“I wrote it after a tough relationship. We weren’t together and I knew he was seeing other girls, which obviously makes any situation hard. My first instinct was to focus on what the girl had done wrong until I realized it’s never the girl’s fault, it’s always the sleazy guy. As girls, we should be helping each other out, so it inspired me to write a song based on giving girls warnings about the bad guys out there. Kind of a way of saying get out while you can!”
The song is already blowing up since its recent release, and we know that this is just the beginning.
We had the honor of interviewing with Ally on everything from her acting, her fans encounters, and her brand new music!
Q:What is your favorite: acting or singing?
A: “Singing has been a passion of mine since a young age. My musical journey started when I was about twelve, and although I took acting lessons at a young age as well, I have always enjoyed music more. I prefer singing to acting because I love the creative process of writing songs and performing them, as well as working on music videos and seeing the vision come to life. I do think acting is fun, but I’m a singer at heart.”
Q: Tell us about your new single “What’s Her Number?”
A: “What’s Her Number” is very special to me. I wrote it about a year before it was released, and one of the reasons I care so deeply for this song is because it was the first time I was able to create a piece outside of my life on “Malibu Surf.” Finally, I could completely express myself, and did so by sending a message that I want other girls to hear. The song is about a challenging time I faced with a guy. Meanwhile, I had to face his social media posts with other girls that people kept sending to me. My immediate reaction was to become jealous of these girls, and to blame the people that he was seeing. This was until I took a step back and realized–what did these girls do to me? The answer is nothing, other than fall for the same tricks I did. So, I wrote “What’s Her Number” to hype up other women and show that we should help one another. We all get played by the same guys and end up blaming one another because it’s the easiest thing to do, and it somehow makes us feel better. Realistically, however, we all know it’s not our own fault.”
Q: How does it feel to have such a huge following?
A: “It’s an interesting experience. I enjoy having a large platform because I can express my voice and reach so many different people. However, compared to my friends who have more of a personal account, I also deal with a lot of pressure. I love the connection it provides me, but I also sacrifice the ability to use social media however I want. Ultimately, I am grateful for every person who follows me and hope that my content is what they like to see!”
Q: What has been your favorite moment in your career so far?
A: “One of my favorite moments in my career was getting the chance to perform in Times Square for the show ‘City Girls’. In the summer of 2019, AwesomenessTV flew me and my co-star to New York to film for the show. The best part–and my favorite moment–was for the season finale when I performed in the middle of Times Square. It was one of the most surreal experiences I’ve ever had, and has forever been a highlight for me.”
Q: If you could collab on a song with any singer, who would it be and why?
A: “If I could collaborate with one artist, I would be honored to work with either Rihanna or Alessia Cara. I can’t choose between the two of them, because both these women have been such immense inspirations to me. Rihanna is someone I have always looked up to, I love her music and style. However, Alessia Cara was one of the first artists I truly could resonate with on all levels. Listening to Alessia’s music made me realize I want to sing for a career, and I have always related to every single one of her songs. She was the first artist that really helped me find my musical style.”
Q: Do you have any behind the scenes stories from your experiences so far on “Malibu Surf”?
A: “Some of my favorite behind the scenes memories on “Malibu Surf” were just hanging out with the cast backstage. We were all really close even off the show, so we always had the best time backstage on film days. The crew was also so amazing, we were all like a family, so on or off set was always a fun time.”
Q: Have you had any fan encounters? How do they usually go?
A: “I’ve had a good amount of fan encounters and every time they have been so sweet. Usually, people are a bit nervous to come up to me but it’s so rewarding to meet them. I love meeting new people, especially ones who can resonate with my music, so every chance I get to meet a fan is extremely special. “
Q:Where can we follow your amazing journey?
A: “You can follow my journey primarily on my Instagram (@allybarron1) and on YouTube (@AllyBarron). I also occasionally use Tik Tok (@allybarron) and Twitter (@Allybarronmusic)! My personal life is on my snapchat, but updates on my music will be on Instagram!”
