Winx Club fans unite!
Known for her reoccurring, fan-favorite role as “Noura” in Netflix’s Fate: The Winx Saga”, Sarah is not a stranger to our TV screens. She’s starred in multiple TV shows, including working with ‘Coronation Street’s Jill Halfpenny in “The Drowning”, and “Ella Enchanted”s Andrea Irvine in “Red Rock”.
We had the honor of talking with Sarah on all things acting, hobbies when not working, and her dream roles.
Q: When did you realize you wanted to be apart of the entertainment industry?
S: “Being an actress is all I’ve ever wanted to do. I idolized actresses from the ‘Golden Age’ of Hollywood like Marilyn Monroe, Katherine Hepburn and Maureen O’Hara when I was a kid. I’ve also always been dramatic, my mum told me that whenever I would cry, I would run to a mirror and watch myself cry. She said it was the actress in me, but I don’t know, I just think that sounds creepy!
Q: Did you watch the original “Winx Club” before getting cast in the Netflix series?
S: “YES! I love it. I used to watch it on Nickelodeon after school. Tecna was always my favorite.”
Q: What has been your favorite role so far?
S: “Playing Noura has been unbelievably cool, she is an absolute badass, I loved working with the delicious Sean Sagar (who plays Marco) and I LOVED the costume. I also loved playing Skyler in Jack Taylor: Purgatory. She was the first queer character I ever got to play. Also, I had a stunt double but I got to do some of my own stunts in a freezing cold river at night, it was terrifying but SO cool! “
Q: What is your favorite hobby that might surprise people?
S: “I play soccer competitively and I sing, play the guitar and write songs.”
Q: What is the best piece of advice you can give right now?
S: “Do more of what makes your soul happy, whatever that may be. You don’t even need to be good at it, the fact that it makes you happy means it’s worth your time.”
Q: If you could work with any actor/actress, who would it be and why?
S: “Sarah Paulson because she’s wildly talented, Charlotte Ritchie because she’s hilarious and incredibly versatile and Charlize Theron because I want to be her when I grow up!”
Q: What are your biggest goals for your career?
S: “I want to make action movies like Tomb Raider, Wanted and The Old Guard where there are strong female characters kicking ass! I want more action roles and I would love to do my own stunts (I may need to work on being less clumsy first though, I am famously clumsy and auditioned for Noura with a fractured elbow from a freak dishwasher-loading incident!)”
Q: Where can we follow your amazing journey?
“I’m working on a couple of awesome projects at the moment which will be out early next year so keep an eye out! You can also follow me on twitter @seymoursarahj or on instagram @sarahjaneseymour 😊”
