An triple-threat!
From filmmaking to acting to singing, Ezra Franky is gearing up to take the entertainment industry by storm. And she’s already started through several projects, including a recurring role in the new Netflix original series “Untamed”.
We had the absolute pleasure of speaking with Ezra about “Acoustish”, her Netflix favorites, and more!
Your character in “Untamed”, Lucy Cook, has been able to successfully survive in the woods for a long while. How well do you think you would do if you had to fend for yourself in nature?
E: “I obviously have nothing on Lucy’s experience, but I grew up close to the Rockies so I spent a lot of time “hey bear”-ing in the mountains as a kid. Once I identify the best berries and softest moss patch, I think I’d do alright.”

Now that you are officially a part of the Netflix family, are there any other Netflix original shows that you are a fan of?
E: “Yes! Netflix has made some of the best shows in the past few years. I just binged Adolescence and was so, so impressed by the performances and cinematography. I did my bachelor’s degree in film production, and we love oners in the indie world so it was really engaging. Some of my other favorites are: Maid, Black Mirror, Good Girls, and, of course, I loved Stranger Things.“
There’s some chatter about “Untamed” and the possibility of it getting a second season. What is your take on a Season 2? What would you want to see?
E: “I’d love to see Untamed in a second season. I think there’s lots of room for Kyle and Naya’s characters to tackle new cases in the future. It’s such a character-driven series and they’re all written with so much potential! Truthfully, I’d watch a spin-off for every face we meet in season one.”
We have to talk about your musical talents, your voice is amazing! What passion came first for you, television, film, or music?
E: “Music has always been a huge part of my life, it was definitely my first love. I adore storytelling and I started writing songs when I was quite young. They were terrible, of course, but it got me inspired to perform and move out to the big city.”
Your new music project “Acoustish” is non-skippable. If you had to choose, do you have a favorite track from it?
E: “Lyrically, “Old Man of the Woods” is my favorite, but “Tender” was definitely the most fun to record. We had a violinist come in and make it twice as emotional as it was when we started.”
Congrats on your recent graduation from Simon Fraser University! Would you advise fellow
performers and filmmakers to get an education in film?
E: “100% go study film! Not only did I learn so much about acting, directing, and storytelling from my undergrad, but I had the space to explore it. I produced my own work and explored crewing each department to find my strengths. And ultimately, I got to build up my confidence on set, which was a huge asset going into Untamed. Education is such a privilege but if you have the means to pursue post-secondary and you want to be an actor I highly recommend studying the work behind the camera.”
Make sure to see Ezra in “Untamed”, with Season 1 streaming now on Netflix!
