Anyone up for a horror night?
If you’ve been obsessed with ‘FROM’, which is currently in its third season, then you will instantly recognized Angela Moore. From ‘Nancy Drew’ to ‘Two Sentence Horror Stories’, Angela never fails to deliver a spectacular performance, whether it be a spooky project or not.
We had the pleasure of speaking with Angela about the importance of entertainment being diverse, her upcoming Lifetime role, and more!
From theater to TV to film, you’ve done it all. Out of the three mediums, which one would you say is your personal favorite?
A: “I’d have to say theatre is my personal favorite. I love to rehearse and play and improvise and you can’t really do that in film and television. There isn’t the time. There is an immediacy in theatre, no moment is ever the same. You can really feel the energy between the audience and the actors, it’s quite the rush!”
Congratulations on ‘FROM’ getting a Season 3! What was your experience filming this season like?
A: “As always it was a lot of fun, but filming in the winter certainly added another dimension to the exterior scenes. I think the cold and the winter become a character in its own way. It was great seeing everyone again and there is a certain level of comfort when you work with the same people. I also got to film scenes with characters that I had never interacted with before (Boyd and the Matthews Family) so that was memorable.”
Do you think you have anything in common with your character Bakta?
A: “I believe that Bakta and I share the trait of resilience and strength. I’ve had some difficult obstacles in my past which gave me an ability to adapt to challenging circumstances.”
’FROM’ takes an exciting dip into the horror genre. Are you a fan of horror? If so, what’s your all-time favorite horror film or TV show?
A: “Omigod, you have no idea – I grew up reading Stephen King and I loved his books and the movies that he inspired! My favorites are The Shining, IT, the Stand (which I had a small part in, in the 2020 miniseries) the original Hallowe’en starring Jamie Lee Curtis, Blair Witch Project, Candyman, and Poltergeist.”
How do you think you’ve grown as both a performer and a person from your Degrassi High debut to now?
A: “Well, I’ve certainly lived a whole lifetime since then. I grew up, juggled many jobs, became a mother and I’ve been multitasking ever since! I’ve learned how important it is to keep studying the craft of acting. I’m paying more attention to what I love most about my favorite actors and what makes them so darn good. I think I’ve also learned to relax and lean into my vulnerability more.”
You have done so much incredible advocacy work for BIPOC. How important do you believe diversity is in the entertainment industry?
A: “Any art form benefits from authenticity, ingenuity and uniqueness. When you open up film, television and theatre to all of humanity and not just to the dominant culture, our storytelling becomes richer, deeper and more profound. Look at the rich diversity of this world! Why on earth would we deprive ourselves of the excellence that we can achieve with the addition of different perspectives and stories? Storytelling is a powerful tool that can enrich our lives through entertainment and education. This is how humans learn to appreciate not only what makes us similar, but also what makes us different and unique. It’s critical to support and promote equity in all forms of art, storytelling and culture.”
Based on your experience, what is the best piece of advice that you can give to BIPOC young girls who aspire to become an actress like you?
A: “Study your craft, learn about the business, persevere and create your own opportunities.”
Where can we follow your amazing journey?
A: “You can see me next on Lifetime’s Husband, Father, Killer: the Alyssa Pladl Story as Det. Celia St. James on October 19th . Follow me on IG @angela_moore111.”
