This young actress just made her breakout!
Caitlin Shorey is quickly becoming an actress to love! She currently plays a young Claire Abshire in the HBO Max original series ‘The Time Traveler’s Wife’.
We had the amazing honor of talking with Caitlin about her favorite organization, upcoming Netflix role, and more!
When did you first realize that you wanted to pursue a career in acting?
C: “I first realized I wanted to pursue acting when I was 6 years old, performing “Maybe” from Annie at a natural pageant and immediately fell in love with being on stage and playing a character. I have been in love with performing and acting ever since.”
Tell us about your amazing new role in the HBO adaptation of “The Time Traveler’s Wife”.
C: “I play the titular character Clare Abshire from the ages of 9 to 14. Playing her at this age range was fun because she was so smart and witty and she really started to challenge Henry (Theo James). It was also challenging to try to bring the personality to Clare that would later become Rose Leslie’s version, which she does such an amazing job to bring to the story.”
What was your experience working with the others on set like?
C: “I had the most incredible experience on set. First of all, I got to work with the amazing director David Nutter. He made it so easy to get into character and get the most out of my performance. He really cares so much for you as an actor. I worked with Theo James who is funny and great to work with!”
If you could star alongside any actor or actress in an upcoming project, who would it be and why?
“I actually have two. I’ve always wanted to work with Zendaya and would love to work with Andrew Garfield after watching him in tick, tick…BOOM! He is also my favorite Spider-Man.”
What has inspired you to give back, specifically to the ‘Inheritance of Hope’?
C: “Inheritance of Hope has done so much for my family and truly are a genuinely loving organization all around. They give life changing, all expenses paid retreats to families with children under 18 who have a parent with a terminal illness. In March of 2018 my family was served by IoH shorty after my mom was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer. It was life changing for me, my 2 brothers as well as my parents. I felt the need to help other families facing the loss of a parent receive the same opportunity. When my mom passed away last July, I promised her I would continue to help IoH in her honor.”
Can you give us a hint about your upcoming role in Netflix’s ‘Mr. Harrigan’s Phone’?
C: “I’m excited to make my feature film debut in “Mr. Harrigan’s Phone.” I can’t say much but I play young Margie, who is one of Craig’s friends and confidantes. It was an honor to be part of something Stephen King wrote and a project Blumhouse and Ryan Murphy are doing. It was a great experience.”
When not working on your next role, what are some of your favorite things to do?
C: “When not working I am a normal 11-year-old who loves singing, group chatting with my friends, playing Roblox, and starting new hobbies that I never seem to finish. haha!”
