This young actress is already making her way in this industry!
You may recognize her visibly from her standout roles on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ But, you may recognize her voice from Netlix’s largest show “Squid Game.”
We had the amazing honor of talking with Reagan on her role going viral, her dance career, and more!
Q: When did you first realize that you wanted to be a part of the entertainment industry?
R: “I have loved performing since I was little! My passion for acting came when I got very sick when I was 5. I was in the ICU and it was very scary. I was in the room by myself, but watching TV took my fears away. I felt like I was pulled into the show, taking me out of the hospital room. When I got better, I told my parents I wanted to become an actress one day. I feel so blessed that I’m healthy now!”
Q: What was your experience doing voice work on the hit TV show “Squid Game” like?
R: “I was very excited to portray two roles: the game doll and Ga-Yeong. I knew minimal background detail for the doll role. Although I didn’t know about the violent scene, my parents still won’t let me watch it! I was able to make the voice creepy but also cute. Working with the director to get the character’s voice right was very fun. Voicing Ga-Yeong felt very natural—it was like playing a little bit of myself. It was a fun experience working with the voice team!”
Q: Did you expect the show, and your role, to become so viral?
R: “It still feels so magical—I am happy the team won so many awards. It’s a great honor to be a part of the fantastic voice work team! I was so surprised to hear my voice on Saturday Night Live. When I’m doing Instagram or TikTok with my mom, it feels weird every time I hear my Squid Game voice—like I’m dreaming! The experience means a lot to me, and I’m so glad that my friends treat me just the same.”
Q: You have worked with so many amazing actors. Who would you love to work with next?
R: “Wow, this is a very tough question! I look up a lot of actresses, but I also do competitive dancing. I would love to meet my idol JoJo Siwa. She’s very positive and it shows in her dancing! Watching her helps me with my dancing, and it’s very inspiring. I really enjoy watching Dove Cameron in Liv and Maddie. She seems so lovely and has a great personality on camera. Seeing her play different roles teaches me a lot about having range. It would be my dream to work with Dove Cameron!”
Q: You are also an incredible ballroom dancer! What has been your favorite performance so far?
R: “When I perform a new dance, it feels like I’m performing a new character in front of the camera. I’ve been doing Latin and ballroom dancing for a long time, and it’s very thrilling! I feel thankful to travel to many dance competitions for my performance. My favorite performance is a Latin dance about being a superstar! I wanted to do an extraordinary dance at the Hollywood Dance Sport Championship. My coaches—Mr. Viktor, Ms. Natia, and Ms. Shirley Ballas—helped me create this dance to show my personality. I still feel so much energy when I think about that performance.”
Q: Besides performing, what are some of your favorite things to do?
R: “I love taking pictures! I have one camera, and I keep journals of all my polaroid photos. It really helped me when I modeled for Forever 21 and Little Tikes. It’s like a party when I get to try on different clothes and show myself in poses. I get creative and think about what pose would look good in the photo. Photoshoots are entertaining, and it makes me feel confident about myself!”
Q: Do you have any large career goals?
R: “I’m just a kid! I know I have a lot to learn. I feel truly blessed that I get to express my creative side. It was significant to me when I got to play a young Chinese girl in the short film Eureka. I think I get really into the performance when I’m in front of the camera. I hope to be part of more stories!”
Q: Where can we follow your amazing journey?
R: “I love to share behind-the-scenes from my auditions on Instagram @reaganto. When I’m on the road with my mom, it’s so fun filming on TikTok @reaganandjuli and sharing the funny parts!”
