This actress is our new favorite special agent!
You may recognize Katrina as the amazing ‘Jessica Knight’ on NCIS. She’s also appeared on a lot of our other favorite shows, including CW’s “Arrow” and DC’s “Legends of Tomorrow”.
We had the amazing honor to talk with Katrina on A Chorus Line, favorite actresses, and more!
When did you first realize that you wanted to pursue an acting career?
K: “I knew I wanted to pursue acting after getting cast as Cassie in A Chorus Line. I grew up as a dancer and singer and that summer stock production was the first time I had added acting into the mix. I immediately fell in love with the entire process. It was one of the most fulfilling experiences as an artist that I had had to date and I had so much fun that summer. I knew I would be heading back to school and immediately changing my major to Theater. That’s what I ended up doing on the first day of class and haven’t looked back since.”
Can you tell us about your amazing recurring role as Jessica Knight on NCIS?
K: “I love being a part of the NCIS legacy and getting the chance to play someone like Jessica Knight is an absolute joy. She is feisty and funny and loyal and exceptionally good at her job. She is somehow open and completely guarded at the same time. I love that Knight is a mixture of quirky and badass. I’m truly enjoying the process of learning more about Jessica as each new script comes out.”
Do you think you have anything in common with your character?
K: “I think the thing I have most in common with Knight is her quirkiness. I can’t help but feel that she has a goofy side that she is barely able to keep under wraps and that’s pretty much how I feel every day of my life.”
We can’t wait for the NCIS Hawaii crossover! Can you tell us anything about it?
K: “I think you are going to see sparks fly between Knight and Ernie in an unexpected way. I had so much fun working with Jason Antoon and I think the audience will enjoy watching the makings of a beautiful friendship. He gave me a gift that you will eventually see pop on Jessica’s desk on NCISOh, and Torres and Tenant run around and do stuff, too…hahaha.”
We were obsessed with your role on CW’s “Arrow”. How was it playing a superhero?
K: “I have been so lucky in my career to be able to play some kick ass women and Nyssa from Arrow is the queen of them all. A trained assassin in love with Sara Lance, poised to take over the League of Assassins…epic. Just epic.”
What is a fun-fact about yourself that you think none of your fans know?
K: “I‘m pretty good at making mini clay figurines, popsicle forts, and I can speak Mandarin.”
What advice would you give to young actresses wanting to find their stride?
K: “Persistence and perseverance is vital in this industry. Hone your craft, surround yourself with a great team, and think outside of the box.”
Is there a favorite actress of yours that you would love to work alongside of?
K: “There are so many actors I would love to work with but at the top of the list are Meryl Streep, Jessica Chastain, and Emily Blunt.”
What are some of your biggest goals for your career?
K: “One of the biggest goals is to be able to maintain a consistent career that ends only when I choose to retire. Along the way I hope to fill that career with roles that are meaningful to myself and others.”
Where can we follow your amazing journey?
K: “My social media accounts are pretty easy to find because they have the blue check mark. On twitter and instagram i am @katrinalaw.”
