Model And Singer Kristina Menissov On New Clothing Line, ‘CROWN’, And Message To First Responders

If you are a fan of fashion, you have definitely heard this name before!

Well on her way to becoming a Fashion icon, Model Kristina is known for being a cover model with some of the most prestigious companies, from Elle to Vogue. A triple threat, the influencer is also an incredible singer and a rising entrepreneur.

We had the absolute honor of talking with Kristina on the brand she would love to work with next, advice to aspiring models, and more!

Hi, Kristina, thank you for taking the time to chat with us! How have you been holding up during the pandemic? Are you starting to see a return to “normal” in the modeling industry?

Hello New Scene Magazine, I am so grateful to chat with you guys.

“Before I speak about myself I want to thank first responders especially the ones who are suspended now due to having a personal opinion after fighting this virus on the first line when we had a luxury to shelter in place. Personally to me it was a time where I was able to take a breath and create a lot but I was fortunate that I was in a safe environment to grow. There were many people that had to quarantine in abusive families during this time without being able to escape by going to work or school. There were many people that  had mental disorders where it is crucial for them to be active and not being stuck within four walls. COVID 19 took so many lives in more unpredictable ways than we’ve been able to read in the news. I think it taught all of us to appreciate more simple things in life and be more responsible and compassionate to each other.

And of course I feel so grateful that the modeling industry is finally opening up and we can get back to work with the needed safety measures.” Kristina Menissov

Q: You have worked with many legendary brands since you first began your modeling career in 2017. One of these brands, of course, is VOGUE. What was the first thing you did once you learned that you booked the VOGUE Mexico cover?

K: “I was trying not to jinx it, haha. I am from a second world country where we still believe in some of those superstitions, so I was trying not to be overly happy until the actual cover was out. And also I did cut my sugar, usually it is so hard to do for me, since I can’t imagine my day without eating something sweet, but for the VOGUE it was not even a problem!”

Q: What is the next brand that you would love to work with one day and why?

K: “I would like to work with Dolce & Gabbana. I love Italy and I love Italian fashion. And I am a huge fan after their collection Mamma from 2015. It is still one of my favorite collections.”

Q:  As if a successful modeling career wasn’t enough, you have also found success in the pop music world with your latest song “BREAKOUT.” What made you decide to make the switch to pop music after being trained professionally in opera?

K: “I wanted to have more freedom to express myself, my thoughts and my feelings. I love singing opera, but there are some rules that you have to follow that have been in place for centuries and I don’t think it’s up to me to break them. I found more freedom in pop music.”

Q: What can we expect to see next from you with your music? Is there anything you can share with us?

K: “On January 27th my single with CANSEL “CROWN” was released. You guys should definitely check it out and tell me what you think about it!”

Q: You’ve also recently launched a new mommy and me clothing line, “Mini & Mom” What can you tell us about the upcoming collection?

K: “It is a lounge and comfy wear that can also be stylish. I can’t wait to start selling it.  I think you’re gonna love it! I’ve included a photo of myself and my son as a little preview of how it looks.”

Q: Anyone who has seen your social media pages knows that your son, Kane, means the world to you. How has Kane influenced your work with “Mini & Mom”

K: “Of course he did! I love wearing matching outfits with him. But it was so hard for me to match it on my own, since there are very few matching outfits for moms and sons. So he is 100% my inspiration for this new collection.”

Q: Can you share any details on when fans can expect the clothing line to be available for purchase?

K: “It will be this spring! Stay tuned and follow our Instagram @miniandmomfashion to be the first one who will see it.”

Q: What advice would you give to any aspiring models?

K: “Try to not get in your head if you hear a NO. Just let it go, but still stay professional. You need a balance in modeling just like in everything else in life.”

Q: To finish off our interview, what resolutions or affirmations are you carrying with you into 2022?

K: “In 2022 I am gonna release an album and perform more. Those two are my biggest resolutions.”
