Q: When did you first realize you wanted to pursue a career in music?
R: “When I was 3, I was always singing, and my dad was a classical guitarist, so I was always engaged in music to some capacity.”
Q: Tell us about your new single “Las Vegas Makes Me Sick”.
R: “This was written a while ago, April 2020, but it was an idea I’d had in my head for some time. When I was real young, 13 years old, I fell into a trap on the website Purevolume with an online predator from Las Vegas. My long-term experiences with him prompted me to write a lot of songs back then, and I still pull from it every now and again. I went to Vegas for the first time in 2017 and it was such a weird, uncomfortable experience; I was looking over my shoulder every few minutes, expecting this guy to just be standing behind me. It was hard for me to visit this place that I’d always wanted to go to, and it really just made me feel sick. So that’s where this song is rooted!”
Q: How would you describe your songwriting process?
R: “It really varies nowadays. I used to write songs exclusively on one of my guitars. But now it could be a capella, or writing a song from scratch during a recording session. I’ve been doing a lot of a capella writing lately.”
Q: What has been your favorite single you have released so far?
R: “Social Shit” is definitely the song I feel most akin to. They’re all pieces of me, but “Social Shit” was a track that was written off the cuff in the studio, and I had wanted to use this idea for quite some time before it finally came to fruition. It’s the fullest scope of Ravive.”
Q: Who is your favorite music artist and why?
R: “Backstreet Boys. They’ve been around my entire life, they’re so consistent and I’ve just literally been obsessed with them since day 1. No other artist has hit me in the heart the way that they have.”
Q: Can we expect more music from you in the future?
R: “Of course! The plan right now is a single a month, but we’ll see where that takes me. The plan could always change. I just want to put out as much as possible.”
Q: What are your biggest goals for your career? Maybe a tour in the future?
R: “Definitely would love to go on a full US tour at some point. One of my biggest goals has always been to chart on Billboard. Came pretty close with my previous band, but didn’t quite get there, so that’s a big goal. I’m manifesting it into the world.”
Q: Where can we follow your amazing journey?
R: “@iamravive across all socials! Thank you for chatting with me!”
