Viral Podcast I.E In Friends On Dream Guests, Diversity, And Their Future Plans

This is the perfect podcast for 2022!

Three friends, Saul V Gomez, Cesar Sotelo, and Aaron Caraveo, recently decided to start a podcast together: And we couldn’t have been more excited. Now, with over 15 Million Likes on social media and a growing presence each and every day, we can’t wait to tune in to the next episode.

One of our amazing Entertainment Reporters, Bryana, had the absolute honor to talk with the group on first friend impressions, favorite episodes, and more!

Q: What’s the significance of your podcast name “Ie In Friends.” What does that mean to you guys?

Saul: “The idea behind the name, I.E In Friends, came from me wanting to showcase all the talent that can be found in the Inland Empire, (California) Which is what I.E stands for. There’s this stigma about the I.E that nothing good comes from it and that you can’t make it out so i wanted to show people that there is a lot of talent coming from the I.E!”

Q: Where are you guys from and how did you all meet?

Saul: “We are all from the Inland Empire also known as San Bernardino County in California, I met Cesar in highschool and he was always down to be in my youtube skits and would always make people laugh which is why he was the first person in mind when looking for a co host! I then met Aaron 2 years out of highschool at a house party. It was 11 or 12 at night. I was drunk out of my mind and the next thing I see is the front door open and in walks in a gang of girls all surrounding one man with a champagne bottle in each hand, it was Aaron. I swear i saw doves fly in too.”

Q: What made you guys want to start a podcast? Was it something you all have always been interested in?

Saul: “It’s funny because I never liked podcasts, I didn’t even think they were a popular thing, but I started working long shifts at Amazon and got tired of music, so I started searching for podcasts and that’s where I ran into a problem. I searched for podcasts with Mexican American hosts and couldn’t find any, or at least none where they were having fun and not trying to be woke or talk about politics. So I got my friends together and we just started talking about normal guy stuff in hopes people would listen.”

Q: What is the message behind your podcast? How are you guys trying to inspire your audience?

“The message behind the podcast is that no matter where you’re from, what your background is, or what people say about you, you can make it. Don’t feel discouraged to try something new or follow your dreams. We want to inspire the Mexican American community because we feel there isn’t enough representation for us, we always have to look up to latinos from other countries, so we want to be part of a Mexican Social Media Revolution where we help bring up other Mexican Americans into the social media game.”

Q: What’s your guy’s dream collab?

Cesar: “My dream collab would have to be with Seth Rogan because I feel like I grab a lot of my comedy and ideas from him plus he’s a super funny guy from other interviews I’ve seen.”

Aaron: “My dream collab would have to be honestly any A-list celebrity because then I would know we made it!”

Saul: “Mine would have to be Russ, I feel his work ethic, the do it yourself, and trusting yourself mentality has helped me push harder and always want more for my team and I.”

Q: What has been your guy’s favorite episode and why?

Cesar: “My favorite episode was episode 42 with Supereeego “ Eric Ochoa”, although we had already had him on a previous episode this time it was on a friend to friend basis which I feel is amazing. He was always someone we all looked up to and watched growing up, so having him on the first time was extremely nerve recking, but then after we all got to know each other the second time around it felt as if we were catching up with an old friend which is pretty amazing being that if we didn’t have him on by the time this question was asked I would have placed him as my dream guest.”

Aaron: “Honestly I really don’t have a favorite episode because I actually really like every episode we do. I love the opportunity we’ve had to work with every guest we’ve had on the show.”

Saul: “My favorite episode would be ep. 25 with the music artist Shrt Lyfe, he’s a Mexican American music artist with tons of pride for his home land. I feel like we inspired our listeners a lot with that episode and that has always been my goal, to inspire.”

Q: Where do you guys see your podcast in 5 years?

Cesar: “I see the podcast charting on the top 10 in five years and us being the top Latino podcast in the United States.”

Aaron: “In 5 years I see our podcast being able to compete against the top podcasts or be one of the top podcasts.”

Saul: “In 5 years we’ll have the record for highest paid podcast contract. Screenshot this, print it out, put it on a shirt.”

Q: Who are your guy’s biggest motivations?

Cesar: “My biggest motivations would be my goals and dreams because I feel that although they are big goals they are attainable as long as we work hard and keep a good head on our shoulders.”

Aaron: “My biggest motivations are Cristiano Ronaldo and Kobe Bryant. I know they have nothing to do with podcasts but just their work ethic. The fact that they’re known for having such an intense and crazy work ethic motivates me to work harder everyday no matter what it is I’m doing.”

Saul: ‘My motivation would be all the promises I made to my family. I promised my cousin Emilio, I’d pick him up from high school in a Lamborghini (2 years left so who’s ever reading make sure you share this post) and I also promised my mom, dad and brother that I’d retire them and not make them work for the rest of their life.”

Q: What advice can you guys give to someone trying to start a podcast?

Cesar: “The best advice I can offer someone wanting to start a podcast is just start doing it because you don’t need any fancy equipment. It’s all about starting the momentum and everything else just comes as you grow.”

Aaron: “I would say just do it. Just start. That’s how we started. We just said “hey let’s start a podcast” and we did. Doesn’t take a lot of equipment to start one. Just need mics, something to record with and just know what you’re going to talk about.”

Saul: “Literally just start and figure things out as you go, people love to see the growth.”

Q: Any exciting things in the works?

“We are in the process of shooting a new food show of local mom and pop restaurants in the inland empire. As well as buying everything we need to print out our own merch to launch our clothing brand!”
