This actor is incredible on screen!
Elijah Collins has been quick to make his make in this industry. He recently debuted on Netflix in the popular show “Colin In Black & White”.
We had the amazing honor of talking with Elijah about his dream co-star, dream role, and more!
Q: What first inspired you to initially start a career in acting?
E: “What inspired me to start a career in acting was just I wasn’t always an actor and wanted to act I grew playing basketball. So what made me really start acting was kind of a miracle. I didn’t know I wanted to act I was playing basketball at the time but I was in that transition of wanting to do something different. So I signed up for backstage I tried it out. One day I went on set on day to just do some background work my first anything in acting. The director comes up to me and tells me he wanted me to play the lead in the commercial I think that’s when the love of the art started. I knew right then and there this was for me.”
Q: Tell us about your new role in Netflix’s “Colin In Black & White”.
E: “I love this question because this was my first co star role in a series. I play a character named Keith. This role was important because it showed the things that young black kids went through and is going through. They are used to being discriminated against. So in this series Keith and his friends are baseball players that are in town for the weekend to play a tournament where they meet the young Colin Kaepernick and tell him the reasons why they discriminate against them instead of the white teams. I learned a lot on set from other great actors. This series was produced by Ava Duvernay and directed by Robert Townsend so just being apart of that was a dream come true, being from Los Angeles you look up to people like Ava Duvernay my fellow LA native.”
Q: If you could star in a movie with any actor, who would it be and why?
E: “Oh mannnn I would love to star in a movie with Michael B Jordan thats a dream of mine. Michael B Kordan to me is like jordan and im that kid at home watching and admiring how he acts. I hope to maybe be like a kobe how he was with the basketball player Michael Jordan lol.”
Q: Describe your dream TV character.
E: “My dream Tv character I would love to play a hero type of character. It’s always cool to see like those hero type characters like in marvel shows etc.”
Q: What inspired you to become involved in charitable organizations?
E: “I grew up working for summer camps and doing things for the community already so just having the opportunity to be apart of charitable organizations was easy for me. I always had a thing for giving so being apart of a organization it was more of I wanted people to support so we can keep giving to the ones that need most.”
Q: What advice would you give to actors who want to pursue a career in acting?
E: “The advice I would give honestly is to keep going and don’t quit. It’s really hard to not quit when you don’t get roles that you feel you should of. Just know that your time is coming and to just stay at it and to be willing to learn from others and learn from your mistakes.”
Q: What are the biggest goals for your career?
E: “Lead roles are on my mind! My biggest goals are to play roles that are important in those films and shows. Characters that are important and that move stories. 2022 I will show who I am, and show my art in different characters.”
Q: Where can we follow your amazing journey?
E: “You can all follow me on Instagram @ElijahTCollins I post a lot of things on their roles that i’m going to play and roles I played.”
