The relatable pop girlie you’ve been looking for!
A independent artist dropping hits all the way from South Wales, MACY is quickly becoming an international favorite. “Please Keep Talking” is her newest single, and we have to say, it might be her best yet.
We had the absolute pleasure of speaking with MACY about performing live, advice for aspiring artists, and more!
When did you first realize that you wanted to pursue a career in music?
M: “I was always a dancer before a singer until I entered a competition in primary school – stars in their eyes! I made it all the way through to the final and ended up winning! I then went on to enter a competition called open mic UK and made it through to the 02 arena in London, I was only 11 years old but I just knew I wanted to do this for the rest of my life!”
Congratulations on your newest single ‘Please Keep Talking’! You mentioned that you co-wrote this song years ago. What made you finally show it to the world?
M: “Thank you so so much! I’ve been in my funk/disco era for a while now. PKT has always been in my demo playlist and last year I kept going back to it. I just feel like this track is truly me. I’ve loved making pure pop but I felt really comfortable recording this one!”
From hearing your music on the radio to making your television debut, you have reached so many major accolades in a short amount of time. What’s the next goal that you have in mind?
M: “I’ve had so much fun! It’s been a crazy few years and I’m super grateful for every opportunity that comes my way being an independent artist. I would love to do a mini tour at some point. I would also love to support an artist on their arena tour!”
You are going to perform in the In It Together Music Festival in May! If you had to collab with anyone else in the lineup who would you choose and why?
M: “Could you imagine a MACY & Madness collab? haha! I think it would be fun to collab with AITCH. I think he would be really cool to vibe with and have fun with on stage!”
You are a natural performer! What do you enjoy the most when you are performing live?
M: “People dancing and singing my lyrics back to me. It still blows my mind when someone knows my songs, I’m always incredibly grateful to my fans!”
Based on your experience, what is the best piece of advice you can give to aspiring artists who live in areas with a limited music scene?
M: “Never ever give up on your dream! Take all the advice and help you can get and really believe in your work. Work with as many people as you can. Enjoy every second!”
Make sure to stream “Please Keep Talking”, available now on all music platforms!
