JULITH Walks Through Her New Crash Out Single “Left From Right” And Teases Upcoming EP

Are you ready to scream in the car?

You may remember her from her original name Julia Pratt, but now she’s fully rebranded her music career under the new artist name JULITH. This transition is coming from a whole new era, and if “Left From Right” is foreshadowing what this era is going to look like, then sign us up.

We had the absolute pleasure of speaking with JULITH about her current favorite song in her discography, her safe space, and more!

When did you first realize that you wanted to pursue a career in music?

J: “I think I realized I wanted to pursue a career in music when I joined my high school acappella group. At
first I just wanted to live out my pitch perfect dream, but over time I started to realize that I loved
performing and I had a lot I wanted to say through music.”

What inspired your music transition from Julia Pratt to JULITH?

J: “Names hold a lot of power, and releasing/performing under my government name for years kept me
tethered to parts of my story that I’m ready to release. Making this project has given me the courage to
step into a new chapter of my life. JULITH is her own moment, and she has her own story that I’m really
excited to share through this EP.”

We are actually obsessed with your new release “Right From Left”. How did this single come to be?

J: “Thank you!! The story of this song is crazy–it started out with a rant about how power and control
inevitably leads to subjugation of others. We started the song and got stuck, then had about a 2 hour long break where we chased a rat, haha. When we came back to it, the song came together with that ending crash out rant about the PPA (Philadelphia Parking Authority). Safe to say it was a crazy day, haha.”

The passionate crashout at the end of the song felt so real. How do you navigate infusing your vulnerable and personal emotions into your music?

J: “Oh it felt real because it WAS real! I was fresh off the plane from Philly after being personally victimized
by the PPA, and I was feeling feral! I think being in such a safe space with my friends/collaborators
allowed me to tap into parts of myself that I hadn’t explored in my art before. That’s part of the reason why
this EP is so special to me–it was made with people who made me feel safe enough to scream and cry
and yell and laugh and rejoice all in the same breath.

You’ve released over a dozen songs, with over 10 Million streams we might add. Is there a song in particular that you believe represents who you are as an artist and as a
person the best?

J: “Right now “Pure Spite” is my JAM. With the current state of the world and our country, I’m really feeling the energy of that song at the moment. It reminds me that we’re all only here for this moment in time, and it encourages me to do something with my voice while I have one.”

Your debut EP under JULITH, This Is A Kindness, is coming out in April! What can you tease about what fans can expect from the project?

J: “I would say to put your seatbelt on and maybe have someone to talk to afterwards, lol. It’s a bit of a
whirlwind of an EP, tapping into all things catharsis and rage, and it’s colored by the joy I had creating it. It
sums up the emotional and spiritual healing I’ve been doing over the last couple of years, and I hope it
brings clarity and catharsis to whoever endeavors to listen.<3″
