Viral TikTok Singer Mae Stephens Talks About Industry Growth And New Hit ‘Done With U’

If you haven’t been listening to Mae Stephens yet, then you have been out of touch with the bops of pop music. She’s released hit after hit, and her newest single ‘Done With U’ might be her best yet.

We had the absolute pleasure of speaking with Mae about performing live, her dream collab, and more!

Congratulations on your newest single ‘Done With U’. What led you to creating the ultimate empathist anthem?

M: “It was simply a song that was made in a session. But recently it’s become more relevant in people I knows everyday life. But done with u has a deeper meaning for myself  to cut people off when needed.”

After your career was thrusted into the limelight after your viral hit ‘If We Ever Broke Up’, you are now one of the biggest rising artists out there, with over 2 Million monthly listeners on just Spotify alone. How have you been navigating your fame?

M: “⁠⁠I had a lot of time this year to actually find who I am as an artist and that’s given me a lot of peace of mind, compared to the launch of my career I am in a better place mentally as the industry can be your harshest critic.”

⁠⁠For people who got to know your music through social media and are now starting to get to know you as an artist, which song from your discography do you think perfectly represents who Mae Stephens is?

M: “For me my music has been a journey of discovery. And taking a new path as a person and an artist, the music coming soon is more Mae than ever, but if I had to choose one from my discography it would definitely have to be ADHD that is me in a nutshell.”

⁠⁠You’ve collaborated with everyone from The Chainsmokers to Meghan Trainor to Alox. Is there someone who’d be a dream to work with next?

M: “If I had to pick an artist to work with next it would definitely have to be Ashnikko, purely because her visual aesthetics are phenomenal and her music is a guilty pleasure of mine.”

2025 marks 5 years since you’ve been releasing your incredible music into the world! Looking back, how would you reflect on your evolution as a professional artist from then to now?

M: “Nobody prepares you for how the industry is… I joined the industry with a very naive mindset, not realizing how much you need to shout to be heard. After working closely with a  therapist and industry coach I am the most mentally headstrong I’ve ever been, and determined to work hard to get where I need to be to succeed.”

⁠⁠You are going on tour in 2026! What are you most looking forward to?

M: “There is no place I feel most comfortable than on stage performing for people who love my music.”

What else can fans expect from you in 2026? More new music?

M: “100% I can’t say too much but we will be introducing a new era for my music.”
