Actress Millan Tesfazgi Talks About Rihanna & Character In ‘Mary J. Blige’s Family Affair’

From appearances in numerous CW shows to Mary J. Blige’s incredible film series about her life and legacy, Millan Tesfazgi is quickly becoming a consistent face to see on our screens. And when she is, she tends to steal the show.

We had the absolute pleasure of speaking with Millan about her favorite Mary J. Blige song, ‘Siren’, and more!

When did you first realize that you wanted to pursue a career in acting?

M: “I would say my passion for acting started at a young age. From childhood, I knew I wanted to be an actor and was fascinated by storytelling. My journey truly took off when I moved to Vancouver in my early 20s, where I began auditioning in person for the first time and learned as I went. My big break came with the role of Cami on Siren, which significantly transformed my career. Working on two seasons of the show was a privilege that enabled me to gain a wealth of knowledge. That experience was undoubtedly a turning point for me.”

Congratulations on your role ‘Mary J. Blige’s Family Affair’! What has the filming experience of this film series been like for you?

M: “Thank you! It’s been incredible! Collaborating with such creative people and telling a variety of stories has been amazing. I believe every character has something that resonates with audience members, whether it’s related to their experiences or challenges.”

Do you think you have anything in common with your character Sasha?

M: “Absolutely! I think Sasha is a go-getter who gets things done. At the same time, she has a soft spot for the people she loves. While she appears fun and cool on the surface, she’s actually very deep and complex. You really get to see her evolve, and I definitely connected with different aspects of her character.”

You are truly a standout in these Mary J. Blige films! Is there another music artist you are a fan of that you’d want to be involved in a biopic about their story?

M: “Rihanna! Everything about her is so cool, and she’s incredibly talented. I absolutely love her music!”

We have to ask: What is your all-time favorite Mary J. Blige song?

M: “I LOVE “Be Without You” by Mary J. Blige. My mom and I used to sing it out loud on the way to school, and it would always be followed by “Real Love.”

What acting role thus far would say has challenged you the most?

M: “I would choose Cami from Siren. Her character involved a lot of physicality, as well as an accent I had to master. I really needed to understand what “primal” meant for her. It was a fun challenge for me!”

From ‘Supergirl’ to your role in ‘Wild Cards’, you’re quickly building up your CW resume! Is there another CW series that you recommend we add to our watchlist?

M: “I’ve been really enjoying “All American” and have been catching up on it lately.“
