An actor on the rise!
If you’re looking to watch a TV series that keeps you on the edge of your seat, then Peacock’s ‘Teacup’ might be the show for you. The leading actor that’s stealing each scene he’s in is none other than Caleb Dolden.
We had the amazing honor of speaking with Caleb about playing a hero, his amazing Halloween costume this year, and more!
When did you first realize that you wanted to pursue a career in acting?
C: “Well, my brother has been an actor for my whole life. I was a little shy when I was little so I didn’t get into it right away. I had trouble hearing but once that was fixed I became the talkative little boy I am now. I look up to brother and wanted to be like him so I said to my mom,” Hey mommy, I want to do acting” So my mom started me in acting and here I am.”
Congratulations on your role in ‘TEACUP’! What was that filming experience like for you?
C: “Filming Teacup was fantastic! It was a dream come true for me. This my biggest project to date and probably one of the best experiences of my life. My first day on set I was a little nervous, but Yvonne really made me feel comfortable. I really formed a great bond with all the actors on set and I think that that comes of on screen. I am so grateful for the depth of knowledge all the amazingly talented actors shared with me, not only did I learn from them but I also learned from the crew. I got to tell a story that I really liked. Ian’s writing and leadership made it so fun creating Arlo and Harbinger, which is something that is challenging but also really fun! In fact, everybody on Teacup was fantastic to be with! Of course I loved all of the cast, but also really enjoyed the whole crew. Everyone in the whole production was fun, kind and great to be with. The kind of people that always keep a smile on your face. The guys at catering taught me some Spanish, and in hair and makeup I had some great conversations. I am not an iPad kid and since I spent a while in the makeup chair I really enjoyed the time.”
Do you think you have anything in common with your character Arlo?
C: “Yes, I honestly do think I have a lot in common with Arlo. Arlo really relies on his family, which is something I obviously can relate, since I am ten. Arlo also has a very complex relationship with older sister, which is something I can relate to because I have an older brother. I think Arlo and I are also alike because we are both curious, enjoy playing games and tricking our families. Also, Arlo has a love for animals, which is shown when he runs into the woods to get Mr. Goat. I love animals too and have a few rescue cats
and ride horses. I would really like a dog one day though.”
’TEACUP’ was the perfect watch for Halloween Do you dress up for Halloween/have any traditions for enjoying the spooky season?
C: “Yes, it is one of my mom’s favorite holidays and she shares that excitement with my brother and I. Every year we dress up and go Trick or Treating. This year I dressed up as my character Arlo. It was so fun especially when people said, “You look like that kid from the show I am watching!”
Are you a fan of the horror genre? If so, what are your favorite horror movies or TV shows?
C: “I am only ten and when we started filming I was nine, so I haven’t watched that many horror films yet, but do think I am really beginning to like it. I actually really enjoy the jump scare now. Of course, my favorite horror TV show is Teacup.”
Is there a type of character (superhero, villain, etc.) you would want to play in the future?
C: “I would like to play any character I can because I know I can learn from any role and opportunity. I think it would be really fun to be a hero in an action movie along the lines of Mission Impossible, although I like longer projects because I get to be with my character longer and I am really enjoying developing characters. Next season, hopefully we get one, I plan on keeping character journal on Arlo.”
What would you consider to be the biggest pinch-me moment you’ve experienced so far?
C: “Well that is easy! The day I learned I booked Teacup! I was just cleaning my room and doing my chores, when my mom called me to the phone. My agent and my manager where on the phone and I wasn’t sure if it was going to be good news or bad so I was nervous. When they told me I booked Teacup I leapt up in the air and didn’t hear another word. I was bouncing on the couch from cushion to cushion saying “I can’t believe I am Arlo”. In fact, I did that for weeks out of the clear blue sky I would be the backseat of the car saying I cant believe I am Arlo. When we finally landed in Atlanta, I looked at my mom and said, “Mom, this really happening”. I love acting so much!”
Where can we follow your amazing journey?
