Avery Lynch’s discography is truly incredible, especially her newest ‘Rain’, which we’ve been streaming consistently since it’s release.
We had the absolute pleasure of speaking with Avery about her validating career moments, her favorite songs she’s released thus far, and more!
When did you first realize that you wanted to pursue a career in music ?
A: “I grew up always wanting to pursue music, I just wasn’t sure how, and I didn’t really know until I was already doing it. As soon as I started posting my songs on tiktok, everything changed and I was immediately thrown into it. I love being an artist and I’m so grateful for that time in 2020 on tiktok for getting me that start.”
Can you tell us more about your amazing new single ‘Rain’ and how it came to be?
R: “Rain’ is a song I wrote about when my boyfriend and I broke up during covid and I was asked on a date by someone. I didn’t really want to go, and I actually had kind of a whole existential crisis about it. We got back together after a few months because it turned out he had been feeling the same way. Fast forward about 3 years I found a note on my phone that said “how to make it rain,” and I knew the idea was there but didn’t know how to execute it. Then, a few months ago I was pet sitting for a friend who has a real piano in her house and I wrote the chorus on that. I finished the rest of the song when I got home with my friend and my favorite songwriter Neisha Grace. I ended up posting it on TikTok and a lot of people loved it, so now here we are!”
If you had to choose, what has been your favorite single you’ve released so far and why?
A: “I’d say it’s a tie between “useless information” and “you’re just a guy,” if that counts. “useless information” is incredibly meaningful to me because I wrote it during a really low point in my life. Sharing that song felt vulnerable, but the love and support I received from fans was overwhelming. It’s also a favorite among my music peers, which gave me a huge confidence boost. That song is all of my music peers’ favorite song of mine, and it just gave me so much confidence. The other favorite of mine, “you’re just a guy,” was so fun to release because it’s just such a playful and silly song. The immediate support it got online was something I hadn’t experienced in years and it did so much for me.”
You have over 45 million streams on Spotify alone! What has been your reaction to your success?
A: “I feel like I haven’t really sat down and comprehended the amount of times people have listened to my music before. I feel like I have a really hard time celebrating my wins and success, to be honest. There’s so much pressure to follow everything up with something better and more successful and in turn you never really get to celebrate. I’m so proud of what I’ve achieved and I strive to continue to grow!”
You do quite a lot of performing! What do you enjoy the most when it comes to performing live?
A: “My favorite part is when people sing along to the songs. It’s so crazy and cool to see, especially as an artist who started during COVID and didn’t have that experience for about half of my career. I also absolutely love meeting people after shows—it’s one of my favorite things.”
What would you consider to be the most validating moment in your career thus far?
A: “When I meet other artists and they tell me they love a specific song of mine or that they’ve listened to me to help them get through heartbreak. There’s something so cool and validating about your peers in the music industry listening to your music.”
What is your best piece of advice to young girls who want to start releasing music of their own?
A: “If you post your song online and it doesn’t “go viral” that does NOT mean your song is bad. If you love a song, someone else will too.”
Where can we follow your amazing journey?
A: “You can follow along mainly on Instagram and TikTok!”
Make sure to stream ‘Rain’, available now on all music platforms!
